Hi Everyone
I have recently acquired a 1985 318i TC Baur which I am going to enter into the Australian Variety Bash
A drive of approximately 3000kms around out back Australie to raise money to help kids suffering from challenges will see about 150 cars enter the bash.
There are a couple of things I would like to do and am reaching out to the E30Z crew for assistance, tips and guidance.
Upgrade the suspension to get some LIFT, yep not down but UP.
Would like to get 100mm of lift if possible to get some added ground clearance so I dont hit any road kill, pot holes etc
Tips for increased engine cooling…. What and How to and What with please
General engine birthday for added reliability, Any tricks or tips and where to source those spare parts.
I hope you can me out
Cheers
Anton

Welcome!
Another Aussie and good to see you're are bringing some 'tasteful' driving to the Variety Bash.
(For our English viewers you'll see what I mean here)
Having a look at the website - you'd better get your 'skates on' - it's not far away.
Suggestions:
Have a look at the Wiki for routine maintenance as part of your 'engine birthday'.
As you're in the bush - don't forget engine & gear box mounts.
Increased cooling, upgraded alloy radiator (custom job, or some of the OTS options Mishimoto, Nissens)
Make sure your fan clutch is up to snuff.
If your car has A/C likely you have a thermo fan - jimmying the resistor & fuse so it only runs on high helps.
Otherwise a better AM thermo fan (SPAL).
Lifting an E30.
Unfortunately will have to refer you off this site - see here and here.
Finally for local E30 parts sources:
- Clickable Automotive
- RUN Auto Parts
- Peninsula BM
- Repco/Sparesbox has some stuff
If you need OE specific parts, you can source from your local AUS dealer - but be prepared to sell a kidney.
Overseas is cheaper, but with COVID, allow extra time for overseas shipping:
- Costworld (UK) here on the site
- FCP (US)
- Schmeidmann (DK)
Oh, And realoem.com will be your best friend.
Make sure you select the classic catalogue for E30 stuff.
PS: Nice username...
PPS: People will want pics of your car...
