They knew what it was worth,
But regardless I got it for a bargain as they didn’t want to deal with the hassle of listing it and having Tom, dick and Harry coming to view and mess them around. They said they would much rather sell it to a local lad on their road who obviously has a big interest and isn’t just gonna flip it for a profit!!

Indeed, looks like you got a very good example, and to still have the original exhaust after 30 years - amazing! 
I would be inclined to whip the side skirts off, and give the sills a good clean & rust-proofing.
