Hi guys, have been an e30 enthusiast for a while. Based in New Zealand. Last e30 was a 325i manual with recaros and all sorts but it got really bad cancer. It's taken me 10 years to move on but have just bought a 316i that is going to be m50 swapped among other things. Love this community for info, superb. Thanks for the add!

welcome aboard buddy.
your old e30 sounds like it was a well spec'd example,
you'll fine all the info (& more) on your proposed m50 swap.

Thanks for the welcome. Yes my old e30 was as I've come to learn about as well specd as it could be but timing wasn't right. Almost through the purple tag swap of the 316i. About to bash a dimple into the header tube to clear the barina link

Hey mate,
Welcome! And your old car looks great - i love a sexy 4-door! I'm looking at the purple tag upgrade for my new 320 convertible so do let me know how easy it was and how it feels once done.
Cheers,
Rich

I guess the issue with the purple tag in my situation is that I've done it with an m40 vs most who are using an m20 or m50 etc. I found I was way outside my comfort zone when changing the knuckle over onto the corsa/barina link. It was OK to get back in as I don't have power steering or anything to worry about. Just having to bash the header tube in that I'm worried about. Because I'm going to m50/52 swap the car I'm not too worried but it's bloody difficult on the garage floor! I'll post some pictures from the swap on the build thread too.
