Hi, after leaving my 1985 318i 2 door off the road and in a lockup for far too long I’m about to embark on recommissioning. Monday will hopefully see it on the back of a transporter for a journey from Essex to Derby for some gentle fettling. I cant wait to add some miles to the 31k it has clocked up from new. Will post some pics soon !

Finally after many years she’s out of the lockup and now in Derbyshire for fettling. She may need a little clean..... 😂😂😂😂

It is low!, it only had 19k in 2002 when I bought it from the first owner, then 31k by 2005. It’s been off the road 15 years, but has survived the storage really well. Interior still looking pretty much like new, Everything is totally standard. Looking forward to getting it back on the road and clocking up some more miles!

So what’s planned is to give it a good service and thorough going over mechanically, using genuine BMW or OEM standard parts, new clutch slave cylinder, brake overhaul, flush and replace all fluids and oils etc, new battery, exhaust and tyres and a new MOT.

There’s a few small bits of surface rust to sort, refurb the wheels and then a thorough clean, paint correction and detail inside and out and under the bonnet. Can’t wait to see it back to its gleaming best!

That all sounds good,I’ll take it’s staying as it rolled off the production line.

Yes, I personally think it would be sacrilege for something so low mileage now. I think the only thing I will change is to fit a short shift kit for now, always felt it was a bit pudding stirrer. I might buy a set of bottle cap alloys and alternate those with the steelies in the Summer.

That’s good to know. Once she’s back on the road maybe we should have a meet somewhere. Will keep my eyes peeled when I’m out and about for more.

So today was MOT celebration day! Through with no advisories, still rocking the original exhaust. After a thorough service, new fuel pump and injector and the usual consumables she’s sounding sweet. Still needs a wash and thorough detailing and to be mated with some refurbed bottle top alloys and new rubber. Finally getting there after 15 years of storage....

Just reading through some of the new members posts and came across this. Although I don’t have an E30 in Derbyshire yet, I am currently reading up, viewing as many as possible (to get an idea of condition) and searching for the right one for me. I will keep an eye out for your E30’s when I’m out and about!
