Is there anyone in the Stoke area available to have a look at it with me?
I have to arrange it with the chap so would prefer it not to be a last minute thing.
I've a good idea what to look for, but would really appreciate another pair of eyes, you don't have to consider yourself an expert.
I will reimburse you with a big crate of beers or petrol or some other such negotiable thing.
Please reply here or better still email: rich.watts@hotmail.com
Thanks in advance!

Haha well, a quick assessment of a couple of photos for me could be worth many thanks and an e-pint..?
There's some rust on the rear arches and the sills, is it safe to assume it'll be behind the arch liners and need a fair amount of work?

Throw some pics up then at least a few people can have a look .stmachreth wrote: ↑Mon Oct 28, 2019 3:18 pmHaha well, a quick assessment of a couple of photos for me could be worth many thanks and an e-pint..?

Firstly I'm no expert - however there are many on here that are and can offer better advice than me.
Difficult to form an opinion from these three pictures as there might be areas much worse lurking elsewhere ( or not if your lucky?)
For what it is worth this looks fairly typical of rear arches that will need a lot of work inside and out. The o/s looks worse and looks like it has had repairs/paint in this area before. Might be the light / reflection but the top edge of the arch looks a bit out of shape compared to other side. Not a problem if you are not paying too much and you can either live with it or be prepared to repair. Engine bay looks fairly original from this angle though it looks like a weld repair on the bonnet hinge ( or it could be grease? - hard to tell. Looks like a new(ish) insulation pad under the bonnet. Wheels don't look too bad.
Good luck - hope it is a good one for you.
Any help? This is what it should be like The engine bay looked similar on mine before a good clean up.

ocde30 thanks,
think I see what you mean about the o/s.
The ad makes it look pretty nice and straight with a few issues including intermittent speedo, fuel gauge, rear washer, crazed bonnet lacquer.
Since we love a photo I'll include the rest of them

What are the implications of the rusty arches? I'm telling myself that if worst came to worst I could weld them myself... (disclaimer I can't weld - yet)
