Hi everyone,

I'm going to be taking delivery of my Uncle's old 316i in the next month or so after I have cleared space in my garage for it, its been sat waiting to be restored for years and he never got round to it so the car and the task of getting it back to its former self is falling to me!

Theres a fair bit to do mind you... engine has seized so looking to rebuild, some rust repairs, new wheels/brakes/shocks/suspension, a few bits of bodywork need replacing... I know a lot of people might say ditch it but the car belonged to my late Garndmother from new so it holds plenty of sentimental value. I can remember her razzing me around the streets of Bristol in it when I was a little lad!!

Looking forward to becoming a member of this really friendly and helpful community, and picking your brains about what parts are best to use to update and modernise the car whilst still leaving it feeling reasonably original! :D

Thanks in advance for all your help, and I hope to see you out on the roads soon! :bmw:

**EDIT** added a couple of photos of the car as it is in situ

Definitely don't ditch it! A family car like that with childhood memories is worth the effort. Any more details or pictures?

If it was me I’d Oem all the way and get a set of 15” BBS cross spoke. The BMW dealer sticker in rear window could be worth taking a photo and sticking it here. viewtopic.php?f=1&t=193771

No further pictures at the moment, these are just some my Uncle sent me, but its due to be delivered to me on a flatbed truck next month so I'll hopefully have some more photos then! I've been to see it a good few times and didn't think to take any more because I was too busy looking round the car and inspecting it for un-saveable rust damage... thankfully I didn't find anything serious.

Thanks all for your friendly welcome and support, I'll be sure to keep posting any updates on the build as and when they happen! :)

They do clean up very nicely as the quality was 100% back in the day.
