Ok, I'm competing in the Manx Classic Hill Climb on the 17th 18th and 19th of this month (April)

I am in group 6B - Post 1983 Road saloon and sports cars over 2000cc

I'm against
1. Porsche 911 carrera 3200cc from 1987
2. Alfa Romeo 75 2950cc from 1988

What do you think the outcome will be if the other two cars are standard..I don't really know either of these cars and what they're like?

I'm in my E30 325i track car - weighing 1055kgs with fuel, race chip, air induction, straight through exhaust with no box or cat, LSD, Toyo R888 tyres (but tyre warming not allowed :(

Event one - Steep hill - straight with a U turn at the end and over the line.
Event Two - Straight and twisties
Event Three - Straight and twisties again but twice as long
The Isle of Man: No National Speed Limit, No Gatso's, No Nanny State, a disused airfield track 1.5 miles long, the best mountain road to drive on...Come and Play!

sounds like fun, saw the pics from last year 8)

well with any luck the 911 will disapear into a hedge backwards on the u turn on event 1. And the alfa may have rusted away by the end of next week

I think you have your work cut out there with the 911 if its being driven by some one decent, but the alfa and a 325i are quite simular performance wise. Sounds like you have a good spec too, R888 will come in handy.

The most important component is the driver, and you have last year under your belt, and alot of numptys own porsches :D

good luck looking forward to the pics again, maggs

Id say you will hold your own if the porky is fairly standard, they are fairly quick (not earth shattering just torquey) cars but difficult to drive fast unless your quite skilled. My old man an i used to give each other a good run around the track, his is a standard 1987 911 convertible 3.2 with the g50 gearbox , mine was a slightly worked (chip, zorst, good tires, lsd etc) 325i.

Ive driven his car ALOT and now my V8 e30 would absolutely kill it, his feels soooooooooooooooooo slow compared to mine. And his does not have ps so its bloody heavy steering
