I used the studding made by grayston. I got mine from a local shop that's now closed but you can get it from grayston or demon tweeks. I use the 12 x 1.5 60mm long but thats cos I've got big nuts
The compomotive open ended ones
If you use shorter nuts the no bother I just like to see the stud go all the way to the end.
Loctite them in well and they'll be sound.

I think grayston doesn't sell to Joe public, I bought mine at ETA Motorsport. M12x1.5 60long (if you don't run spacers)
there is also Demon Tweeks, Grand Prix Racewear and I am sure many others.

This may sound a stupid question, but how would you go about making sure they were in tight?
I have been thinking about fitting studs to mine and this was my concern. Would you just wind a nut fully on and turn the std in using a wheel brace?

usually some decent strong threadlock should help gaurentee that the nut loosens off with less tourque than the stud does
when they go in, they should pull tight the same way that the bolt would, it would just pull axially on the thread creating torque

Another vote for Rally Design here
When fitting if you dont have a stud end for your rachet, use 2 nuts to tighten, one on with another butting up to it, tighten the secind one- it will grip the stud
Threadlock is a must too
