bean removing the tar crap off the floor today in my sport and it ocured to me that i could seam weld the shell while im at it. sois seam welding worthwhile on the e30? im going to be running a sparco cage tagged to the a and b pillars has a diagonal in the back stays and the main hoop with a cross bar. and i may put a dash bar in aswell so the shell should be fairly rigid anyway. its going to be mainly used for trackdays, hill climbs and sprints. with the jersey rally once a year wich is tarmac on smoothish roads so it wont be too hard on the shell like some rallys ive seen. so would this be worthwhile? there is a hell of alot of seam sealer to grind off to get to the joints.

cheers

mike.

In the cab, no, but it is a useful thing to do in the engine bay, especially around the bulkhead and suspension turrets.
Stitch welding is what's usually done - 2" long welds along the seams, 2" apart - strong enough, but less likely to cause distortion through excess heat and easier to remove if a panel needs to be replaced.
