I'm looking at getting an e30 325 which would be used pretty much solely as a track car (and maybe the odd DWYB event).Im waiting for my skyline to sell before I get the car but im trying to plan a budget. I want to try and do things as economically as possible (dont we all!) without skimping too much on the quality. So would appreciate advice on what to use for the following and an estimate of costs (let me know if ive missed anything critical)

LSD, if doesnt come with
Coilovers and other suspension components
Exhaust (maximise performance whilst keeping sound levels acceptably low)
Roll Cage
Brake Set up

standard e30 LSD is all you should need for a 325 for now, should be found for around £200-300 in good condition, ideally 3.91 ratio would be good

suspension and brakes depend entirely on your budget as the options range from low buget (uprated pads and fluid) to really high end stuff (4 pot calipers and different disks etc), suspension can go from good £1-2K coiloivers, plus a few huindred for roll bars down to new struts/springs and roll bars for a £600-700 hundered second hand.

rollcage, again is down to budget and requirements of what you wish to do with it (i.e. do you need it to be FIA certified, does it need to meet a certain construction/material spec for any series which you want to compete in)

exhaust, a decent manifold for £600-800 should see you with a brand new 6 branch tubular affair and the standard exhaust should be ok from there back over, unless you wish to do anything different.

a bucket seat and harnesses would probably be advised if you were to add a cage, so budget at elast £200 just to do the drivers side, if not more if you want the right seat for you (or want better harnesses) etc.

these are jsut rough prices though but do give you a little bit of a better idea of what you might be looking at.

Personally i would be going for a cage/seat/harness combonation, then a braking and suspension upgrade, and then look at doing anything to amke the car quicker in a straight line
