As I am turning 30 this year, I've decided to have me some fun...

I'm selling my Nissan Primera and I've just bought this with the intention of stripping it out and using it as often as I can on track days, it will also be my daily commuter so it can't be too mental. I will try to keep you updated with my progress. It has a full stainless and I'm told it has an Alpina chip?!? Its my first project so go easy on me...

I am selling the interior so if anyone is interested in some blue leather sport seats, give me a shout. (better pix to follow)

I will also have the fire extinguisher and bracket if anyone is interested.

Wish me luck :)

tbh id keep the seats and carpet in if its going to be you daily aswell you can still keep them with a 6 point cage and will make it much nicer for driving to work in, and the back seats are easy to take out when you want to go on track.

and there isnt anything wrong with track or rally preping a sport aslong it is done nicely and properly not bodged. im currently rally preping mine and will have no interior at all but will be a dedicated rally car as i have a daily driver.

Nah, I really don't want to keep the leather, so I may aswell sell it to pay for some other bits n bobs I need.

Dont worry though, I'll be gentle with her 8)

Whites the fastest colour! I've got a sport that's track prepared (although 99.9% by someone else M3GTR) but if I can help then I will. I think I saw an OMP cage on ebay if thats a start for you.

well, here's the first update...

Today I stripped out the interior and did a few other little jobs, removed the front seats, rear seats, door cards, quarter panels, parcel shelf, rear seatbelts, centre console and even the carpet (all removed carefully as I am selling it). I relocated the electric window switches to the dashboard and got rid of any excess wiring its picked up through the years. A few pics from the day...

and this is whats been removed...

Its suprisingly solid and I only found a few patches of rust that need attention, should get those tackled tomorrow

Cheers for the advice, I'm going out right now to stock up on hammerite :)

I'm really enjoying this project, first time I've ever done anything like it, so far so good (except for a few comments I've had such as 'You're ruining a classic") each to their own I say.

purely for time, I need it on the road by the end of the week and the sound deadening was just to much of a mess on to do in the time I had (car is stored at a friends business premises so access time is limited). I'm not going totally mad with the weight saving yet, so I didnt see it as necessary to remove. Its brushed on hammerite and its smooth, wish I'd got the hammered finish now as it looks a bit cack, never mind tho eh

tbh the with the amount it weighs no more than like 5-7kg at the most. and the amount of work it takes to got a good paint finish after woods it isnt really worth it. afterall the cars most people build are never going to be in any type of competition where a few kilo's really does count. well that my 2 peneth anyway.

err i gues so but tbh imho

.

if your attitude is this then you should have just left the carpet in i just cant see the point in doing a half job the idea of stripping the car is to save weight lol

so if your there then go for it imho

but each to their own i just want my car to be the best it can be but thats me i gues

anyway car looks good never the less good luck

If you're going to keep any weight, then that's the place to keep it. I've removed all mine but i could just leave off the pies for a week and it'd save as much weight and from higher up too.

Well, I've had another busy weekend, I give the engine bay a course of Mr Muscle to try and get it looking a bit more presentable...
Before
Image

After...
Image

You cant see much difference in the pictures but it does look a lot better. Still need to get that yellow waxoyl stuff off the inner wings etc but T-cut doesnt seem to help, any suggestions?!?

I've tidied up the cabling in the back and painted over the sound deadening to make it look a little bit better...
Image

Still looks a bit untidy in the back when you look in...
Image

So I have tinted the back windows to make it look a little more civilised...
Image
Image
Image
Also bolted the front seats in properly so now it looks almost normal!!
Image

Next on the list is springs and shocks, they should be done in a few weeks (60/40 kit) and an alarm/immob to keep the theiving scum at bay!! Oh, and I might even wash it!

 thats exactly the look i want for my white sport track car, looks so at home on the track. wat suspension kit are you running on that looks arse high or is that just because of cornering? and wat profile r888's are you runing. 195/50's or 205/50's

195/50s, the 205's may cause concern as they foul on the Coilovers. Gaz Coilovers, with H&R Front & Rear ARBs.
The rear is high because of the weight transfer to the front under braking.

What's the set up with this then Marty - looks the dogs - loved the lowered - my car is lowered 40 mm but looks like 25mm as it's lighter..

As for the comments as to why andyaskew did'nt remove the sound deadening...I suppose it's his car and his decision - good job we're all different.....And as he's a fan of white hammerite then he's in the white e30 club with me :P Here's mine..

But you can't just tear into it with no thought. The sound deadening should be the very last thing you remove for weight saving as it keeps the centre of gravity lower. With deadening out but sunroof still in, mine handled like a Ford.

Well, its taxed and officially on the road, still waiting for my springs/shocks to arrive so they will be fitted soon, and the engine could do with a service and tune-up, but the bodywork and interior are pretty much as they are going to stay for a few months...

That looks really nice. Tints look much better than i thought they would. Makes it look passable as a normal road car. Nice shine to the white too. Guess i'm not the only one who's glad that white cars are in fashion again!
