Hello folks, after some advice regarding fitting a set of coilovers for some serious track abuse. Is it necessary to have the wheels arches rolled to make room for the tyres. I am asking because i have a 325i 2 door shell with a weld-in cage and its going for painting in a couple of weeks... any feedback would be appreciated!!! Not decided what coilovers to go for yet either!!!

Worth rolling them before paint- definately!!
What you will need to do is move your rear topmounts out otherwise they will foul on the fuel breather pipes and inner arch.
I can highly recommend GAZ coilovers

Thanks for that.... where and how much can i get GAZ coilovers from??? A friend of mine race`s a 325i with LEDA coilovers, but i hear that they are proper expensive!!, looking to pay around £600-700. I take it that your car is a dedicated track monster?

Wouldn't say monster but it is a PBMW racer ;)buffly wrote:Thanks for that.... where and how much can i get GAZ coilovers from??? You can order GAZ direct from GAZ, call and ask for Dave and tell him James Cuthbert PBMW sent you (should give you a good price).
GAZ costs around your budget, and are on a par with LEDA IMO. For either you will need a donor set of front struts, so take that into account.
What series does he race in?? Whats his name?
Heres a fron GAZ coilover on my car:

To be honest, he now only does the odd race in Anglesey and Oulton Park, used to do the Khumo a couple of years ago, but got fed up i think.
He reckons that the Khumo tyres are up to much really.
He had the car built about five years ago and it cost him £8k i think, so my main aim is to build a similar car on a smaller budget and beat the tw*t around Anglesey!!! Would be nice, as he is one of the managers at my dealership!!! (Premier Cars, North Wales)
Got plenty of donor parts thats no problem...
Thanks for the pic!!!

That name rings a bell but not sure why exactly. Leda shouldn't be overlooked they are very good quality and worked a treat on our E30 and are still the shock of choice in the Kumho BMW
