i've posted this in here as i asume most of you will have these. i started to put a few gauges in my 320i today but i've got a bit stuck on the water temp sender.

Image
i believe the brown plug is the water temp (am i right?) but when i took the sender out of the box it was a completely differant size to the one in the thermostat.

i also tried plugging it onto the OE one in piggyback with the original but the OE gauge doesn't work then. any ideas? do i have the wrong sender? is it possible to get the OE gauge and the 52mm one working from the oe sender?
any help is much appreciated. :)

mine had several adaptors to get the right fit... what brand is the guage ?

also, you can mount it anywhere in the coolant system.

you could put it into a coolant hose if you wanted too (just make up a plate)

look in the demon tweeks catalogue - they do a whole range of adapters. my guess it the new sender you have is the standard 1/8 size and i reckon the Beemer is an M12 thread (i tried an M10 bolt in mine last night and it was just too small). DT do an adapter from 1/8 to M12 for about £4.
