Removed all the sound deadening from the front two footwells, behind front two seats, and where the back seats should be.

Got a massive blister on me hand from the heatgun and scraper - but got there in the end.

Bagged it all up and popped it on the scales, it came in at 6.2kg - so I'm happy with that.

Also removed the spare wheel, no point me carrying one around, when I have no means to change it even if I did get a puncture (carry no jack or wheel brace etc)

Not sure how much the wheel and tyre weighs... but with the 6.2kg of sound deadening - that puts me down to 1042kg with 20litres of fuel

1 litre = 1 kilo, so about the 1022kg mark with minimal fuel.

Next up, is to scrap the bonnet hinge mechanism, fit bonnet pins, and take a hole cutter to the inner skins of the panels, also ordered some polycarbonate for the windows :)

Sounds pretty good, weighs a fair bit less than a standard one!

I've got to go for perspex windows on my Civic, the rollcage adds a bit, need to counteract that!! :)

which part do you mean Jimmy?

I hope you mean the "outer" of the sunroof bit, as I hit my helmet on it when on track!

can you mark up the bit you mean in paintshop or something and post it up please?

ta!

Going well mate, love the pics and the moody stance - hubba hubba :D I had one of those blisters too - perhaps we can start a E30 hand blister club?!?!?!?

The main beam light missing for the induction - just like mine - £5 for the one who gets stopped by the Police first :D

I'm also looking at removing the sunroof as the pic above, it looks a right messy job with the use of an angle grinder...ah well convertable here we come!!

Keep going mate and I'm interested to know the weight as we seem to be preping the same car bar the colour difference

Dan - see pics above, already removed ski hatch - weighed a fair bit!!! couldn't believe it, just waiting to buy a hole cutter, and take large holes from the rear bulkhead

Yes, going Nurburgring again later this year not sure what car we're going in this time tho'

Jimmy - nice one mate, i'll do that this weekend! however, heating it up with a heatgun - will that not bubble the paintwork on my roof? (not that i care actually, nothing an aerosol can't sort eh!)

Lloydie - driving with no full beam in, is legal, just need to whack it back in for the ole MOT

Oh, another thing Lloydie - when mine was last up on ramps, I removed every exhaust heatshield - you wouldn't believe how much those things weigh!!! get em off!

Heat shields for the exhaust? There're coming off tonight

I too am going for the magic TON (1000 Kgs)

Re the ring - when are you going over? Is it part of an organised trip or what?

Don't throw them away, you might want to put to put one back on after you get your left foot cooked. If the air temperature isn't cold enough to take the exhaust heat from the transmission tunnel it gets too hot to touch.

looks great mate.

Didn't realise the 3eyed look was legal. I put mine back in recently just for driving around but that will be whipped back out tonight. Nice one!!

And might remove that ski hatch as well.

Looks absolutely cracking though. Have to organise a big meet soon.

I'm told I can remove the massively heavy structure behind them )the bumpers) but I need to find out how

you need three presicion tools, that is all.

1. hammer
2. bigger hammer
3. angle grinder

go for it mate!

PS: whilst people are looking here... how do i remove the bonnet completely? i want to fit my bonnet pins...

and is it easy to get lined up with the wings afterwards? (im guessing so, seeing as they're on runners at the back?)

Thanks!

Something like 4 10mm head bolts each side at the front hinge tilting mechanism thing and the whole lot is off. Easy line up afterwards, just push the bonnet back into place. You need to snip the screen washer hose, a bit of brake pipe is a good fit for joining it again and it slips on and off easy enough when you lift the bonnet off. A lot easier with two people tho.

Cheers
