Hi

Would have thought tweeks can supply OMP or Sparco cages next day

Not in a position to knock other cages, its for you to decide upon quality/price/fit/suitability etc

The Safetydevices cage has a good reputation and comes with X diagonal and harness bars to rear and all fittings and bolts etc...door bar available

They are suitable for all racing and the rallying RWD challenge, options for sunroof and non sunroof cars.

If you want to discuss it properly can chat with you on the phone, but as stated no direct experience with OMP to knock it...they are a company who makes lots of good accessories for racing, Safetydevices have been building cages for a long time.

If you need a rollcage you have options but they will all do a job and are available

what kind of price is safety devices stuff ?

Safetydevices price depends upon applicable discounts etc available as stated and are available now.

What price is the OMP you have been offered, know safetydevices can be cheaper than Tweeks price but is your decision based only on price as fit and construction need to be a consideration

If you are happy with OMP then by all means go for it

Just to jump in here :D I bought a OMP 6 point cage from Deemon Tweeks as it's only going to be used for track days and the occasional drive so it will do for me. The cost was approx £430 delivered to me in the Isle of Man, it only took 3 days and comes with all the fittings (which some people have said it doesn't..!?! It's going to be fitted this month but I think it's fair to say it's an 'Entry level' cage.

It all depends on what the car is being used for, if it is more than occasional use it's worth getting something of a higher specification to the OMP but I was also on a budget.

Good luck with the choice :D

Lloydie

Surprised to hear the OMP might not be up to extreme use, to be fair I have been told stories about other cages and it can depend sometimes on the use the cage has had and the way it was fitted etc.

The Safetydevices cage is strong and has a good reputation and if any fitting parts are missing all companies should supply later, but all branded cages should be fit for purpose...thats what you have to consider.

As stated, and agree depends on use and budget etc

Custom Cages are the best available, has a Safety devices one and it was heavy and not that extensive, CC was the best we used and the one that is most commonly used in Kumho and other major racing championships

As stated its a case of fit for purpose and cages can be built to suit and the company that supply the SD cages do offer a service to add triangulation etc to the standard cage..which as said before has full X diagonal so not like the old cages

If you pay the price you can or should get what you want

You pay the price etc etc

But the CC has triangulation as standard as should all decent cages, SD are decent but in terms of weight and quality the CC is a better product and that is why it's mostly the cage of choice for E30 racers in Kumho and elsewhere. If you want a bolt in one that will just add some strength then SD / OMP is the way to go but if you want ultimate safety and rigidity then CC is the way to go

The OMP is fine and will be up to the job without a doubt, FIA approved. However if I was racing in a championship I wiould be looking at a full weld in cage as Taffy has mentioned in other posts as that is completly different on many levels to occasional track day use

Hi

dont think m-dtech said what the intended use was/is...or whether cost/safety/weight were prime concerns

Then advice would be accurate for use and original post

Hi...not sales talk...and defo not bullshit that out of order and I hope it was in jest winkeye

As discounts for BMW RWD challenge..although have to use Safetydevices cages...also for BMW car club members and for Kuhmo etc

But you are sorted now so good luck but dont think you will be able to enter the car in the RWD challenge for 325s!! with an OMP cage

Let me know how you get on fitting it etc

So backhanders work even after the company has re-opened under new management then?

Maybe you need to explain that last comment as not clear what you are implying but backhanders dont work with me..and not sure what new management you are talking about hence 'what are you saying'..try to be less subtle, and more helpful

I'm saying that there's probably a reason why there's a compulsory rollcage manufacturer for the RWD challenge series. Why not just state that it has to be of a certain construction standard (multipoint, triangulated, FIA approved etc) rather than from a specific manufacturer. Just seems a bit odd to me that's all. I can undersatnd it with using control tyres as they're a direct influence on competitiveness, but forcing everyone to one rollcage manufacturer just seems a bit "you scratch my back, i'll scratch yours" , that's all.

I should add that i'm the most cynical person this side of Newsnight, so as usual it's probably nothing like what i assume.

Hi

You have explained some of your comment, but not the new management etc...

You should be cynical with the people organising the challenge if you think there is something wrong not the cage manufacturer...so think you should offer an apology as your comment was a bit strong.

As I understand it if a car was built before the challenge started then you can run other cages...I understand your observation and agree that if you dont get a performance advantage then why restrict it.

I or the suppliers of the cage have anything to do with the regulations so I think you were out of order to direct these things towards those not responsible...why dont you go on the forum for the challenge and state this...you may find people share your views but suspect it will not change the regulations as they also have restrictions on tyres, suspension, engines are to be standard as are exhausts etc

I looked at the challenge myself but decided against it due to restrictions but there are plenty who are competing and enjoying it

I await your apology or retraction

New mangement - SD went into administration and were bought out last year, production moved to poland to save money.

You obviously have a vested interest in this somehow. Who are you? SD mangement? supplier? fitter?

Hi

I think your knowledge is flawed as Safetydevices is still operated by the same owners as always been, so you need to be careful what you are saying...it is true they have moved production overseas.

They now have specialists selling cages for them...I know the BMW supplier including the E30 cages hence one of the reasons why the race and rally cars we are building have these cages, any why I know they are good.

Still waiting for your apology...guess you dont do those..lifes too short to get worked up but try and get your facts straight in future

Why are YOU demanding an apology? I haven't accused YOU of anything. You're not SD management and you didn't draw up the RWD challenge regs, so you are merely an interested 3rd party like me.
