Greetings all,

Frame to fix bucket seats in

I have two OMP RS seats (for the fuller figure) to go in my E30 325 track car. I thought an easy option would be to attach the brackets to them and then locate them on the original fixing points. Three points out of four line up but the Drivers seat is too far forward for me (I'm 6' tall) plus it tilts slightly too forward and doesn't support the back to my legs.

Please can someone advise is there a standard seat 'Frame' I can buy or is it a case of getting one made especially to fit?

Also the 6 point harnesses I bought, are they OK on standard mounting plates or would you add an additional bar to the cage and attach them to that. Harnesses are Willans Harnesses, 6 point.

See website for pics

Ta's in advance :D

As far as i'm aware, yes. Mine has a custom mount, as do the belts. I'll check tomorrow and post some more detail on how it's been done.

Hi, we welded an angle iron "extension" to the front of the frames to move the frame back about 4-6", then drilled the original frame and new bit to suit the BM seat mounting points. The seat stays mounted on the bracket its supposed to mount to. Don't know how anybody except a midget could ever use the original frame, I'm only 5'6 but my knees were virtually on the steering wheel.

For 6 point harness, I've copied from Liam Crilly on the seloc forum, site from memory is something like www.fourwheels.org

Cheers

Hi,

As luck would have it I bumped into a guy with a rally prepared 325i in Douglas. I knew the car had been built but then it was sold on. I met the guy when he bought my 14" wheels which it sit's on but had never see it until now....Have a look at my website http://www.whitetrack325i.webeden.co.uk/ pictures in the E30 section pics 17 & 18...

I've got a closer shot so I'll post sometime tonight if poss..

I'd still be interested in any pics though guys..

Cheers

Ian

if the frames fit on the sides, fit the frames place the seat in the car after grinding off the original bolts sticking up, get your seat in a comfterable position, mark it and then weld it in 1 to 2 inches further forward than you marked it, my mate always welds seats after the punters gone further forward, they always say how comfy is feels

Cheers M3 Bob - I can see a plan coming together :D

It would be good to get someone who does a 'Out of the box' kit for the E30 though...Perhaps I may start one
