Just to let all you bucket seated people know that it's a fairly easy mod to lower the steering column. I asked a while back in the general E30 forum and got some encouraging edvice, so i got it looked at when i had the seat fitted.

I've had 1 inch spacers fitted to the upper brakcet on the column and it's comletely transformed the car, so much easier to drive. Was about 2 hours labour, and by far the best mod i've had done to the car so far.

Does it not put any strain on the column? Is it being forced down by the spacer's to accompany the height of the steering wheel?

No, if you loosen the bottom bracket and then tighten it back up when you've finished then it's all fine.

You'll need to get some spacers made up. I suppose you could use a stack of washers if you want a quick fix.
