you say you have access to tracking equipment?
if thats the case then try the car in a "neutral" set up & see how it feels then go from there, slightly changing it each time till you find your own "sweet spot".
also, what might work for one person might not work for some one else, plus you don't say what suspension set up you have, coilovers?? shocks & springs?? adjustable ARB's etc.

if it's got t*ts or wheels it's bound to be trouble...............prove me wrong.

front -3.2 camber
front 0.5mm toe in
front 10 degrees caster
rear -2.5 camber
rear 1mm toe in
But as said above this is probably more suited to my car and suspension, suspension arms, ARB and tyre set up.

Ever set up will be different depending on what hardware and your driving styles like go carnetics and get a set up done to their spec and take it a good hoon... they will keep adjusting untill your happy but its charged by the hour
Sorry should have said my set up haha..
Gaz golds all round
Front camber top mounts
H&R adjustable roll bars front and rear
No way of adjusting caster just got the offset bushes
And standard rear beam so no adjustment there eather.
Thanks for the replys im just looking for a base that i can then work from.
Cheers

I run.
Weight 970kg m20b25
Bc coilovers 10kg front springs / 12kg rear springs (20%stiffer cartridges CAtuned spec)
24mm front arb / rear arb delete
M3 offset lollypops
Polybushed
Rear adjustable beam
Federal rsr tyres
Front
0 toe
camber -1.5
Caster 1.2°
Rear
1.5 toe
camber 1.7
Thats what my set up is based on i had it set up at a motorsport place local to me and i got a base set up from a friend that tracks his and had it corner weighed and spent the day adjusting and driving.. it was trial and error the set up i have now suits my driving style perfectly although im going to have to have it reset up when my new front end and engines in as there will be considerable weight loss

Graham - whats the theory around having greater camber at the rear that on the front on your set up ?
Tbh we had it on and on and off the geom set up all day to get it feeling right. The extra camber on the back made it so much more predictable on track and less tale happy may car current is very very light on the back end (carbon boot/boot floor/plastic windows ect and upfront is still all steel panels with a heavy m20b25 donk so the set up may just be counterbalancing the weight inbalance. Ive got grp front end and a much lighter engine going in that sits much further back so im expecting to have to dial the camber in upfront . when ive drifted in the past ive always set up more camber up front than on the rear ive always found you can step the back out easier.
I think as a guide go standard set up and adjust from there what works for one wont for the other

I measured my toe today. Having never checked it after building it and doing 6 races I thought I might as well. 7mm toe out on the right and 9mm toe out on the left lol! OOPS!! No wonder it's been a bit heavy on the front tyre wear
My M42 engine will be much lighter than your engine but I have 120N front springs and 90N rear springs. Car weighs 952kg with no fuel and driver. Closer to 1040kg with me and 15L of fuel. It's very responsive. I will see how the rest of the year goes and may look to go up to 130N fronts but at the moment it feels good. With your heavier engine I would be looking to be stiffer still as obviously the spring has more weight to hold.

Is this a road or a race car because you don't want to be crashing your arse down the road with super stiff springs. I wouldn't want to take my race car down a main road.Sx279 wrote:Not sure about the springs i was gona ask gaz in a few months what there are and if there correct for my car when i get them rebuilt. but other than that its a m52 2.8, weight is 1050kg and tyres are federal 595 rsr's

I appreciate every one is different but try toe out on the front. I've never set up a race car with toe in on the front before. I'd be looking at about 2mm toe out as a base line.Superleggera wrote:front -3.2 camber

I agree with you Rich, all my previous track cars had slight toe out at the front, however, I spoke to many E30 M3 owners with similar types of set up and they all ran straight or toe in - so i used that as a baseline.
I always assumed toe out would have given sharper turn in at the expensive of a little bit more inner tyre wear.

I would look at the springs at the back, these seem quite stiff. Normally you run a front engined car with stiffer front springs.initial_g wrote:The extra camber on the back made it so much more predictable on track and less tale happy may car current is very very light on the back end (carbon boot/boot floor/plastic windows ect and upfront is still all steel panels with a heavy m20b25 donk so the set up may just be counterbalancing the weight inbalance.
