Karts are the only thing that spring to mind. I do remember ther being an under 17s track event for cars a while back but can't remember who organised it.

Think your talking about T-Cars and they are promoted/organised by the BRSCC, IIRC...
Not cheap, though, cos it seems to be a series for aspiring F1 or Touring car/GT drivers to get started in....

If you live anywhere south ish, the Haynes manual museum have a test track that is Ԛ£250 + vat to hire privately. Its short and twisty, mostly 2nd and 3rd gear stuff, so don't be expecting Donington quality, but you will be able to use it without a licence. Split the hire cost with a couple of mates and its cheaper than an average track day. If you're interested do a google search for the haynes site, there is a link for track hire.

I was under the impression brian that you could hire that for Ԛ£50 for half a day and Ԛ£90 for a full day iirc. I think you'd also be lucky to get out of second gear there in an m3, no doubt you could sit at 3000-4000rpm in third but would you want to. Don't get me wrong it would definatly be a good place to start, but there are barriors and a large mud wall to seriously damage the car. This may be a bit of a problem max as I doubt(but will stand corrected) that you have a lot of car experience?

Oh right who do you share it with if there is nobody using it on the day you want it? Didn't realise that. Ԛ£250 is a lot of wonga for that track in my opinion.agent006 wrote:Ԛ£50 and Ԛ£90 are for a shared day. Ԛ£250 for exclusive use.

Depends what you want really. If its somewhere to just drift around a bit and arse about with a few mates its cheap as chips. I was there last Monday with a couple of guys who have built Mk 1 rally escorts, for them it was perfect just to practice throwing the car sideways. (Not 1.1 escorts with big wheels either, one is the cover car on one of the ford magazines this month). Also useful for bedding in engines, brakes, reliability testing etc if your car isn't a road car. But as you said, not a lot of run off if it all goes horribly wrong. I was just thinking of somewhere that culd be used without a driving licence. I used to race bikes, a lot of the younger guys had problems with track time as the majority of track day organisers only catered for over 17 yo with a bike licence.

They're also annoying little buggers that have a habit of blocking you when you're lapping them!!Fushion_Julz wrote:Think your talking about T-Cars and they are promoted/organised by the BRSCC, IIRC...

Yeah it is definatly suitable for sorting out little gremlins in a car that you can't run on the road. Its about the only place i can think of to drive without a licence, unless you know someone very rich with lots of landBrian28 wrote:Depends what you want really.
