Has any had a clucth go pop and disintigate!

Was on track.....

4 lap of the morning....

Just spent 3 months of prep on car....

Bought it off a chap who had the car off the road for 2 years

doing 100ish.... and down changed while braking... lifted clucth pedal....

and complete clutch loss.

Got car up in the air when in the paddock, and could see friction material coming ou the small holes in the gearbox / engine casing.....

BUGGER!

Is this common?

Thanks

Mark

Probably down it its not being used for 2 years. Very little use is far harder than very heavy use ith regular maintenance. Cant imagine the clutch and its facings were in the best of condition...
Selection of BMW hardtops available, please ask!

Not sure what the setup is on the M50 conv..... Will pick up a M20 flywheel setup perhaps, but will do some research ;)

You need to learn to rev match, thats the problem here.

I bet the pressure plate failed at the straps.
