I've been there to see rallycross and the british drift championship before so know the circuit (very good spectator circuit as it happens, very friendly and the pits are usually open for spectators to have a wander round)
They have a track day coming up on the 19th feb for £99. Bargain
Is it likely to be open pit or sessioned?
What's Lydden Hill like to drive?
It seems very tight so there could be a higher chance of bending my car if my talent runs out? (less run-off)
The rally cross track is that's for sure, it does look like a place not to take liberties though as run off seems minimal and usually ends with armco or a grass bank.
It would be on my to do list but as i live way up north i probably wont get to drive it again , bit of vid i found on YouTube.
No you wouldn't want to take a decent car round a rallycross track it would get messy ,, i used to have an old Mini which could soak up a fair bit of abuse. If you do a trackday there Gareth it would be interesting to hear what you think of the track, see if its worth the journey.
The old mini at cadwell when they used to have a rallycross track.

I did a 2 day sprint race there in my IS. Its great fun. It has 2 really good corners where you are going up quite a gradient, and its quite hard to get the left hander up the hill (after the straight) right. £99 bargain. Plus the facilities are much better than they used to be. The drive into the circuit is quite bumpy for a low car though.
Did a day there years and years ago on a TZR250 and spent most of the day passing much bigger bikes and getting rather dizzy. Its a fun little track but I would say anything bigger than an E30 will struggle. An iS would be spot on and I doubt any other E30 bar the M3 would be quicker. My toy won't be ready by then but I'll pop down and say hello if you go. Will have a diff for you to strip and do your magic on, but will give you a shout about that closer the time G, still have to work out how far I'm going to let Ant go with the engine first
Well it looks like between me, my brothers and a mate we may well have a scooby, track prepared 1.7 puma on coilovers and a standard Mk2 MR2. Could be interesting
I reckon I'll need to wind up the ground clearance a little though, we'll see.
Mr Tash, I'll keep this thread updated if i do head down, it should be a laugh I'll see if i can take you round for a passenger lap or two as well

It's only half an hour down the road from me, I've only done one track day there and I wouldn't do another one.
NOT because it's badly organised but just because I prefer Brands, Cadwell, Oulton, Spa and the Ring.
It's VERY VERY hard on the car, the surface is very abraisive and there doesn't seem to be any track etiquite there...... it's more of a free for all, overtaking on both sides and if you want to get past someone and you don't quite have the power to get past you end up just stuffing it up the inside and really stamping on the brakes making the other car take evasive action! (Not necessarily a bad thing and quite fun for a change but not like any other track day I've ever done and I reckon Ive done at least 20 over the past two years.) Also they are all right handers except for one left. If you don't normally then make sure you take a spare set of brake pads.
Having said that my mechanic absolutely loves it there (he has a Mk4 Escort RS Turbo) and hardly goes anywhere else.
I would say if you havent done it then do it for the experience and make your own mind up.
All track days at Lyden are sessioned and they quite often run a few drift sessions throughout the day.

That sounds a bit of a contradiction to me,, wouldn't put me of personally as long as i am in the red shed and not a decent motor.
I would do one of the brands hatch ones but the mucho cheapness of this has enabled a few mates to just about be able to stretch to it as well. Also i need a little more time to nail the car back together
cheers for the heads up though lads

Well... me, my little brother (stripped and track prepared 1.7 puma on coilovers) and a mate of ours (early impreza turbo estate) are all booked up for this
Any late takers?

Not too much, its not that well prepared but he is doing mates rates for £300 all inclusive for the day, but a lot cheaper for me, i paid £100 towards half day at brands all inclusive on tuesday, did around 150 laps. But obvously, i bend i mend. But on a car thats set him back less than £1200 its not a massive risk!
I did turn up for a bit. Was so cold though. Ate my McDonalds, got a phonecall, saw you, waved then i got some pics of the session you were in Gareth, i then had to leave lol
