No such thing as a cheap bolt in cage anymore tbh. Even the wanky OMP ones are 500 odd quid now. Various weld in options but the price rises sharply unless you can fit it yourself.

Either way, fitting a rollcaeg should just involve bolting it in. Proper spreader plates should be welded at the feet or it will just push through the floor when rolled.

Well you can get weld in cages for around £400 - £500 which are abit more involved than a bolt in cage? I'll see if I can find a link.
Mean while have a swift peak on google for cages. Abit of research and there quite I few about.
I scraped the cheap option and went for a multipoint cage from custom cages. £850.

The £500 omp ones still need painting and will end up costing more. Saftey Devices 6 point bolt in is the best option @ £750 and mostly self fittable.

The cheapest one I would rely on is the saftey devices 6 point, the multi point next and then full weld in cages even better.

To be honest I would rather rely on a weld in multi point. Only due to my preference though after seeing some bolt in cages.

+1 Safety devices bolt in as a bare minimum.. Pretty easy to do as well (what I currently have) Weld in multi point the best (what I want to upgrade to).. What price do you want to put on your safety in the event of an off?

Would you buy a cheap helmet...?

Mike

Ah I see...! :surrender: Fair enough - I found the safety devices cage pretty easy to fit (all the bits came and it had good instructions) if I am honest and a good fit to the shell as well. Also found the optional harness bars very handy.

Trouble is, once you fit a cage and the handling improves 'cos the shell is more rigid, you may find that you want a bit more and hanker after a weld in cage!

Can't comment on the OMP stuff, but good luck with your hunting!
Cheers,
Mike

Would also recommend Northwest RS Centre - they bend and fit their own rollcages from CDS following MSA blue book regs. Just got a 6-point with harness bar welded into mine  reasonable too.

Whats the saftey devices cage like to fit? any box section's need to be welded in for it to bolt to??

i have one in my mini and was very impressed with the fit and quality of it

any pics of where it mounts to E30 would be good if anyone has any?
