Quick question for those that track, do you bother with insurance, do you have a road policy that covers you, what's the crack basically?

You'll need seperate cover from trackdays although some insurers add it as a 'bolt on' to road policies, however a lot of these bolt ons are not worth the paper they are written on, eg some excesses can be in excess of £5000, only third party damage is covered etc etc.

Sky Insurance recommend www.moris.co.uk , you'll be looking at around £60 for a day's cover.

Personally, especially on a car worth only a few £k, I like the theory, if you bend it, you mend it.

It's not just a case of the metal though. I have track insurance to keep InjuryLawyers4u and the like away from my door.

I've always used Competition Car Insurance in the past. However I have a feeling they may have changed hands in the last couple of years as Richard Egger seems to have his own company now.

I would avoid HIC. I have my road cover with them this year, and they're dreadful. Their docs can only show three mods and I haven't been able to get written confirmation that all my mods are covered.

Because of the increasing focus on liability on track, you may find that your road insurance is just plain voided by going on track.

Do (m)any insurance companies cover more than first party on trackdays? My company cover me on most UK trackdays. I recently went to Nurburgring for a trackday (as oposed to Touristenfahrten) and got 1st party cover from MORIS,

However, for trackdays, you sign an indemnity regarding third party (other than barrier and recovery costs at Nurburgring).

Just a quick update if anyone's interested, these guys don't do a combined road and track day policy for anything other than sports cars, but the lady was very helpful in pointing out they do have a one off track day policy but it's only to cover your car, so on that basis I think I won't bother and just as has been said before, if I bend it I mend it.

Now I just need someone who offers a cheap 3rd party road policy for modified cars

Same here, Adrain flux and also have track cover included in the policy but that only covers track day's. Not comp or any timed event's or rally which i won't be doing anyway...

I tried them yesterday, but they quoted me nearly £500 quid because I have driven company cars for years so don't in their eyes have a no claims bonus, even though I have never ever claimed on car insurance!

I think I got the wrong guy, he was a computer says no muppet!
