Hi,

Advice on putting a E36 M3 3.0Ltr in my E30 Track car

I've just done three days of hill climbs in my E30 325 track car and had great fun and the car was fantastic...but....I'm now wanting more power for the hill climbs and track days and I'm considering the 3.0Ltr E36 engine to transplant...

Anyone done it? Doing it? Would love to hear all opinions, thoughts etc. Was it easy, problems to consider...

Here's the car on day 2 - sounds and goes well...and was quicker than seveal Porsches worth many of my beloved E30 325...

Thanks in advance

Ian on the Isle of Man :-)

Can anyone suggest how to test if the boot lights are staying on with the boot shut?

Oh, I would most definately reccomend it. Mine is a 3.2 with a light-weight flywheel and it's rather nippy....

Look in the S50 section of the engine swaps forum for my build thread for some ideas on the scope of the project. It's not cheap to do right but as far as 6 pot swaps I'd say it's the best for the E30.

Jai

Cheers for the info, I'll have a look... Any reason you went for the 3.2 as opposed to the 3Ltr? Is it used as a track car?
