heya
i have a 1987 e30 325i sport with a M5 engine and at the moment i only have the standard shocks with lowering springs.
i am looking for a set of full race coilovers to put in this as it is a racing/drifting car which will never be on the road and i was wondering what coilovers you would recommend.
cheers rob

GAZ are highly recomended as are Leda and KW
you could convert your own struts to coilovers and use the inverted bilstein shocks, and ID springs

don't know about drifting setups but Bilstein shocks will not be happy with springs over 400-500lbs (front) IMHO.Kos wrote:GAZ are highly recomended as are Leda and KW

You need to get them revalved if you want to run dignificantly stiffer springs.
Good priced alternative is also SPAX.
Whatever coilover kit you buy, you are better of with a manufacturer which can tailor the setup to your drifting needs.
GAZ or Spax will do so without robbing you.
Leda as well but not sure about the charge.
KW you have 3 options, Variant 1 (no damping adjustable and more street friendly) Variant 2 (same as V1 but damping adjustable) or you but the "Clubsport" set up. Same as V2 but MUCH stiffer. There is also the H&R Clubsport (no damping adjustable) and the H&R normal coil over set.
You may need to supply front legs in exchange.

Quite a few drift cars I've seen are running SPAX. Some of them use the RSX coil over kit but a few are using the PSX kit which is a fixed spring kit with 30 stage adjustable dampers which go very stiff indeed.

I run LEDA coilovers on mine for both track days and drift days and find them superb although all of my drift days have been at either oulton park on the low friction rally stages or Lydd Raceway go kart circuit so are relatively low speed circuits.

For further information regarding drift setup I would recommend trying the driftworx forum.
I have been on a few days listed on the driftworxs website and there have been some totally sorted E30's on them, some even with welded diffs! (Although obviously this set up would be no good for track days or racing).

We can offer you a custom set up tailored to your need, using the GAZ Golds as a basis.focus-rob wrote:heya
