I went to Brands yesterday for my first ever trackday to do a bit of suspension testing and driver practice.

The car is a 325 that had been prepared for the E30 Rally challenge. Basically standard engine, sumpguard, bolt in roll cage and safety equipment.

The day was well run and the officials helpful. I got told off for letting some one pass on the wrong side, had to have a towing eye on the front. The passing was just my inexperience of a track day, the towing eye was easy, I took the sumpguard off. The car ran well and used a full tank and a bit of gas.

I used some 5 year old Michelin 15 inch slicks. One got properly mullered, but there is another day or two left in the others.

One reason it was so good I am sure, was that there were only 30 or so cars and nearly double that number of drivers. There were only 3 red flags and traffic wasn't too bad. If they had been running the maximum of 60 cars I don't think it would have been anywhere near as good.

The purpose was to try some new shocks from Intrax for a tarmac rally coming up. Tried them full hard, full soft and ended up about the middle which was the plan any way ! The rear is too high and will require some shorter springs to let it down with out fouling the driveshaft boots. The cars was well balanced and when it started gently raining stayed balanced as the grip slowly reduced.

Well done MSV for a good day, and Intrax for some good shocks.
( Intrax the Dutch version, not the US company with the same name )
