Hi,

Please can someone advise me as to the best Diff oil to use for my diff on the 325 track car, It does take a hammering so decent stuff is required - also what cost should I expect to pay....

Thanks

Lloydie

I use the significantly cheaper castrol B373 without any problems, alot of rally heroes use this fluid for clutch type LSDs.

Another vote here for B373, especially if you plan on changing it more frequently.

Good question that. I imagine it has something to do with worn gears/plates inside the diff. Certainly doesn't idicate great health. Thats what I'd suspect, but a good answer should definatly be added to the Wiki.

With regards differences between the oils. The don't seem that different on the face but the B373 is about £5 cheaper. The more expensive one is quoted "Castrol SAF-XJ is also specifically designed for BMW differentials including the Z3 limited slip differential."

I use Silkolene BOA 90 LS High Performance Gear And Limited Slip Differential Oil

This is only to be used with LSD though.

Available from opie oils.

I decided to buy the Castrol - as it's the isle of man I had to order it in, but as the diff has been completly rebuilt it deserved some quality liquid...

We have the TT races in a few weeks and the mountain road is run for 12 miles one way, after the bike racing...Imagine the best twistie road and great straights, you can use both sides of the road, NO SPEED LIMIT, it's quality especially overtaking bikes on the outside around the bends....Guys you MUST come over here, it's just the best.. :D  winkeye
