Day MOT

Has anyone heard of a day mot i had a tug by the police today and needed to get a re-test, and got talking to the tester about road, track day cars and he mentioned about a day mot which means that you can run your car with no headlights but your car is only allowed on the road during the day, if this is true im looking at doing this in the new year

A vehicle can be registered for daytime use only, in which case it needs no lights at all*, BUT you must remove all lights, associated wiring and switchgear (and, of course, re-register it).
A track car, however does need foglamps for use on a wet circuit with heavy spray.
*Brake lights may be mandatory, speak to a SVA station.

i have a motocross kx500 with a daytime only mot.
it has no lights, just a horn. i registered it with the dvla for the road. nothing was said regarding the lights.
when i get an mot, i get an advisory stating that the vehicle has no lights and should not be used when its dark.
