Apologeis if you've already seen this on the main Forum but.....

I don't know if any one can help but i want to take my car on a track day this weekend but I've just been informed that the track has a noise limit of 101db. Do you think that my car would have a problem? It's a 325 sport with a BTB 6 branch manifold and a powerflow exhaust. Any useful advice would be appreciated greatly as I don't want to spend the money on the track day and then get thrown off because it's too lond.

Thanks

Phil

I would be amazed if it was too loud Phil, I had a very noisy 335 and that was only 93db.

If you're relly concerned you can go to the venue before the trackday and they should do a sound check for free.

Sit in the car, rev it too 4500rpm with no load on it. If you can hear engine noise mainly I would bet A LOT of money it will pass. If you can hear a boomy exhaust(very doubtful) you may have problems.

I still think its a bit of a cheat though, but its all good. My car is silly loud under load, but totally quiet under no load. Excellent. :)

Go to Maplins and buy a noise meter. Open the box very carefully. Test your car for a rough guide. Put it back in box. Go back to Maplins with unwanted present sob story.

If it works for wannabe W.A.G.S and dresses why not for wannabe racers?

Alternatively buy an exhaust baffle from Tweeks or Merlin motorsport, rally design etc.........

Don't cost much and saved me when I was at Bedford!

Well took the car to Bedford, had a cracking day for my first track day. Car passed the noise test at 96db and their limit was 101db.

Would definately recommemd it although getting lapped by Porsche turbo's, RS4's and M3's does get rather tiresome.
