Rear seats bulkhead

This may sound like a bit of a silly question but.. could you remove the rear bulkhead from a E30 2door, or would it severely effect the cars rigidity.

I only ask becasue if removed it would make it much easier adding a cage to the rear struts, and also reduce the weight a little. I have had a look and its only spot welded in, so removal would not be hard, the main question is how important is it?

Sorry if it sounds stupid, but im just curious to whether it could be done, or if anyone has done it?

Its a pig to remove- I replaced mine after the previous owner had butchered it for his 6x9's and sub!!

Less hastle to fit the cage through the bulk head, remove a complete section on each side, fit cage and then cut removed sections in half, profile round the cage and weld up

IMO it does add rigidity too

you'd be best looking at getting an fia approved roll cage cause they are designed to keep structural rigidity safety devices apparently do some but dont quote me on that
