No link i'm afraid, he's a one man band working from a shed here in Jersey and really only caters for the local market, i've asked him many times if he would be interested in fabricating things in big batches as he could definatey sell his stuff on the mailand but he's too busy and barely copes with the volume of work he has at the moment
The pedla boxes are made on an exchange basis and based around the standard fittings. It mounts in the sandard holes and allows you to use a standard clutch slave and the position of the pedals is unaffected.
Will be developing my own version at the begining of july. Subject to testing in my own car I might knock a few more out if We can get enough people interested?

Just measured it and it's 25cm overall including the reservoirs or 23cm without,if using M/Cs with integral reservoirs.oze30 wrote:Shame they don't fit with a V8.
Dave, what's the overall length from the firewall to the end of the M/C?

the OEM pedal ratio on the LHD version is 4.2:1
I have changed my pedal ratio to 6:1
Had a look at Oze30's RHD OEM pedal box and believe this can modifed even better than the LHD version.

I thought that the lhd drive one would have been much easier to modify than the rhd one due to the simplicity without the linkage.
For those interested, the one I will be making will have an overslung design. Not much remains of the original bar the clutch and throttle pedal side. The rest of the brake linkage garbage is cut away right to the back plate and the brake pedal modified so that the pivot point is further down due to the overslung master cylinder design. Will start a thread in the group buy section once I have tested it and am happy with the design and the improvement it gives.

If you can make it so the M/Cs don't stick so far out into the engine bay, I'd be interested. What's the ratio on your setup?

Ratio will be 6:1 or as close as i can reasonably get it. The master cylinders will be in the footwell above the pedals and use drop pipes and remotely mounted resevoirs in the engine bay, therefore will not protrude into the bay at all.
Basically its a very similar setup to a mk1/2 escort bias box but obviously using the bmw pedal box as a platform. The advantage will be better feel after chucking all the linkage crap and a proper pedal ratio resulting in a pedal which stops the car rather than one which fights to break your leg and still makes you crash

was just talking about the pedal ratio itself while keeping the OEM design/setupmartinpallot wrote:I thought that the lhd drive one would have been much easier to modify than the rhd one due to the simplicity without the linkage.
On the RHD you can just take one link out and modify it, the LHD needs to have the whole pedal taken out and redesigned.

It will fit, its tight but possible. Plenty of space in a stripped out race/raly car. In a road car only thing i can see getting in the way is the ECU and its associated bracketry.
Anyway, as they say, a picture speaks a thousand words so all questions should be answered by a quick snap of the finished product.

I have exams coming up on 1st and 8th of June. Will start playing around straight after that. Provided it works and I am happy to put my name to it then I have a week off work commencing 6th July so could wack out a few if anyone wants one.

if you've got money to burn have a look at Muzzimotorsport.martinpallot wrote:It will fit, its tight but possible. Plenty of space in a stripped out race/raly car. In a road car only thing i can see getting in the way is the ECU and its associated bracketry.

Only 680Eur for this pedalbox with the balance bar assy at the pedal. At least only the M/C's will stick in the engine bay.

here a picture of my solution. I can adjust the pedal ratio from 4:1 to 6:1

Not sure I like what I see there on the Muzzimotorsport one Uwe. I'm sure it would be fine if you are intent on a full blown track car and are willing to cut holes in your bulhead. It also requires another master cylinder for the clutch and from what I see carries no provision for the standard throttle pedal.
As for your alternative, I think I get the idea but it also seems apparent that the LHD and RHD versions differ quite significantly. Just out of Interest, could you envisage any potential issue with steering column clearance if modifying a LHD pedal box to have overhung M/C's?
What I want is to bring a cheap altrnative which more or less bolts on bar the location of the resevoirs which is no big deal really. I hope thats what most of the people interested are looking for. I want to aim for the price around the 265 quid mark. This is for me to modify your exiting pedal box get it all painted up and return it to you. Price includes the balance bar but no cylinders as these should be matched to each brake application anyway. Turn around time will be around 1 week from receipt of your old pedal box assembly.

It's more or less a DTM/GrpA copy and for s full blown racer or track day car. I find it well overprized.martinpallot wrote: Not sure I like what I see there on the Muzzimotorsport one Uwe. When I started with the brake conversion I wanted to do exactly this. I am sure it can be achieved, but at what price? (not talking about cost only). I have welded door bars and just fitting the OEM pedal box is a PIA, imagine changing a master cylinder in a balance bar assembly......martinpallot wrote: As for your alternative, I think I get the idea but it also seems apparent that the LHD and RHD versions differ quite significantly. That's why I came up with the tandem cylinder bracket and adjustable pedal ration (which I think will be useless because I will end up with 6:1 anyway)
No disrespect, but 265 isn't a cheap alternative in my book. Add some M/C's and you are almost in the price region of a Wilwood pedal assy.martinpallot wrote: What I want is to bring a cheap altrnative which more or less bolts on bar the location of the resevoirs which is no big deal really. If you can offer a part which has functions/options no other pedalbox manufacturer has for £256, then you are bang on with that price.
I first thought to replicate some bracket for sale but I have my own codec, I do not manufacture brake related parts. A minefield if something goes wrong.

No offence taken mate. The differnce here though is that the willwood assembly will need modification to fit and it is hit or miss whether the pedals will be in the same position?. The muzzimotorsport one is basically 600 quid and that is without cylinders so will be double what mine costs. With this its bolt in and go, M/C's are 70 quid so no great cost there.
As far as I see I it am offering something that no other manufacturer has offered because it bolts in and bolts out just like a standard pedal box, no real modification apart from brake pipes and and fittings and no intrusion into the engine bay in any way.
I suppose I need to guage interest really, I'm just going by my own experiences here. I paid 140 quid for a pedal box which intrudes into the bay and didnt work at all, foolishly thinking that It would be the easy way out when the reality is that to make it effective it will be more complicated.
If I didnt have the facilities and the capabilty to do it myself then I think I would be happy paying that sort of money for a bolt in solution. However at the end of the day the client is always right, and if noone wants to pay that sort of money, then I wont force it upon them

Fully agree. You just need to examine your market. Will there be enough interest. With the current engine swap hype I would say yes.martinpallot wrote:

For that price you can get an overhung Tilton pedal set with cylinders. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to make a bracket to get them to fit. I ran my steering column down between the clutch and brake pedal. The two brake cylinders and clutch cylinder face the driver on the set shown below. Fluid bottles are mounted remotely. Also available with integral throttle pedal, although I opted for a clutch and brake set, and kept/modified my existing throttle pedal.martinpallot wrote:What I want is to bring a cheap altrnative which more or less bolts on bar the location of the resevoirs which is no big deal really. I have seen such a pedal box with the M/C's facing the driver and the banjo fittings of the brakes pipes came very close to the drivers legs IMHO. Wouldn't fancy getting my lower legs scraped with just a little front impact. Also this install would be race car/track car only and stick out of the cladding panels on a road going car?GeoffBob wrote:For that price you can get an overhung Tilton pedal set with cylinders. I would undertand If you are comparing like-with-like but About the only thing My pedal box and this will have in common is price and the fact they have an overhung pedal design.
I have made it clear for those interested that I aim to produce a solution that is more or less bolt-on with no hassle. My market is primarily those people who do not have access to the tools to fabricate something like this or simply dont have the time/ cant be bothered with making it work. I now whats out there for a similar price and have based my price around this. As I was discussing with Uwe earlier.
I have something which no one currently offers and therefore the cost is gonna be a balance of whatever makes it worth my while to develop/produce it, and the price that the target customer is willing to pay.
As mentioned before i'm not gonna force it upon anyone. You either want it or you dont. If you do then let me know, if you dont then dont make out its overpriced by comparing it to something different

Martin,
I think the first page makes it pretty clear what this thread is about - and it certainly isn't only about your product.
There are many race proven alternatives out there from reputable manufacturers who have been in the business of selling brake related products for many years. I don't mean to discourage you, but you'll have a whole can of worms opened up on you if a circlip, linkpin, nut, bolt or any such thing comes loose after you have modified somebody elses pedals for them.

Martin, I'm not here to knock what you are offering, and I realise that what you are offering is specific to the E30. But this is an open forum within which we are free to inform other readers with regard to other products, as was the case with BadDave's original post. And I'm just an enthusiast, I'm certainly not here trying to sell anything to anyone.

Overhung mount pedals, by definition, have the master cyclinders facing towards the driver. If the cylinders face the other way (through the firewall) they are termed firewall mount (like the Muzzimotorsport set above), even though the pedals still hang from above. The other alternative is floor mounted.martinpallot wrote:I would undertand If you are comparing like-with-like but About the only thing My pedal box and this will have in common is price and the fact they have an overhung pedal design.

Yes, these type of pedal sets are for track and rally cars only. As in "E30 Zone Forum Index » Motorsport / Track Day". Typically the seating position is so low and so far back that an incident involving the master cylinders is unlikely (legs are typically outstretched with bum on the floorpan). For a road car I would not recommend these. They would be outright dangerous and I doubt you would get an MOT. They may, however, be of interest to anyone building a trackcar who has space/heat constraints under the bonnet.UweM3 wrote:I have seen such a pedal box with the M/C's facing the driver and the banjo fittings of the brakes pipes came very close to the drivers legs IMHO.
