Barry, it will suit the s50 quite well apart from a few corners I suspect. Nothing really that tight, well one hairpin, but no one is going to be able to get round that at 50mph! The strangest corner on the track is a 65mph off camber left, my FWD wrongun just wants to push straight on.
Most cars understeer here, Karan, we need some tips on the day please
Just popped in on Tomson in bristol and he is fairly confident he will be there in a 2.7 turd as well.
I thought this thread might turn into all talk no action, thankfully not!
Bring the s14 m3 theo. That will be fine, unless you have fragged it all by then?

Car will be off the road and hopefully in the bodyshop by then mate, so that's that idea out of the window. Could take the 325i with a set of track wheels on, I'd just need to to a brake change.. Hmmm

A £50 set of yellows for the day, then flog them to some tight **** for £30 the day after. Job done
Bodge style.
Although I'm slightly worried you have gone all proper on us, with all these new bits from bmw though.

The H36 needs to be proper... The track slag doesn't! (and won't be)
I'm trying to talk my mate into bringing his mgf race car along as it needs a good shakedown.

If people are umming and arring, I suspect if you sweet talk natasha, she'll let you do a half day for just over £50.

I thought it would book up quite early... come on lads, sort it out
Erm, what pads? If they are anything better than greens or the like they should be fine I would have thought. Cooling ducts still in place? Make sure the fluid is under 6 months old as well.

its best to take replacement pads and some tools on trackdays if you drive the car home.

We take a 205, there isn't a tool we don't take.
Its been a while but I did take my old 325i on track and I think that had standard pads and new fluid and it didn't fade. That was when I was 18 and probably quite a bit slower/more apprehensive.
You'll have to ask the guys on here what they think, as its not something I really know. I am not sure what the PBMW guys are allowed to run, I suspect uprated pads though.

Best to expect a bit of fade i suppose then, think i'll just take some tools and not push to much before the corners, either way should be alot of fun though, is it just us 2 that have booked up so far?

50/50 on this, got the car into the garage yesterday so can get started but work is busy so its odd hours as and when. Will have a better idea by next weekend.
Standard 325 brakes will be fine if the pads have plenty of meat left unless you plan on staying on track for half hour at a time. If I get the car anywhere close to done I'll be there and will take a spare set of uprated pads just in case you need them. We've raced on Halfords standard pads as it was a last thing Saturday fk up when we remembered we needed pads to race on the Sunday and we couldn't get any decent ones in time. The Halford ones were fine so ended up leaving them on for the next meeting as well.

I wouldn't worry overly, its about having fun in the corners and you'll have lots of that if you can't slow down in time!
At the moment its us 2 off here and a couple of 205's. Hopefully some of the guys that have posted recently will book it up soon as well.
What car btw, a picture would be good. I'll be in this:

Just seen Brians post, hope you can make it mate, also listen to Brian about the brakes, not me!

I went on this trackday last October.. was our first trackday ever.. car stood up well athough tyres and brakes ( all standard ) did take a bit of abuse.
MSE run the event is very well.. with plenty of tracktime.. we only got told off for spinning off on our second lap... well you got to find the limits early on!
There is an interesting mix of cars there.. our 325 through to Supercharged Atoms.. there is also an event photographer there to catch you in all your glory.. see http://www.photodirectuk.com/abingdon20081017.htm.. ours is a silver 325i that rolls a little too much!
Im back there on the 27th..

Its on stilts in that picture as well. Its spent most of today at >4500 rpm ripping around, its still alive.
Its not that quick in a straight line, in fact slightly asthmatic, but you can just throw it through corners with ease which is great! It just keeps gripping.
e30convert do you mean this feb the 27th? If so, are you bringing the 325 again? This should be a good laugh with a few people. You can all help fix mine when it breaks.

Only picture i got this mourning, can't to the others but should give you really rough idea. Do love the old school hot hatches, they just seem to love getting thrown around and so much more fun on the limit than new cars and all the electronics!

Booked me and Mickey in. No cars ready yet, but nothing like a deadline for helping you focus
. Planning to take a few different sets of springs etc to use the time to set the cars up a bit playing with different lb/in, ride heights etc. Turkey I stripped a pair of 325 legs on Sat for the calipers, they had new pads in
. Will take these along and you can throw them in the boot just in case you need them. Now off to scrape the snow off me toolbox and get started .....

I very much suspect Jon that you would be in a better position to give me FWD tuition
. Didn't check on places left, should have but forgot to. Do they have an online list of who's booked, could work it out from there?
Should be in two 318s. Mine has pretty much everything to do from a road car, it has been stripped out, cage half in (weld in), that's about it. Dropped the head over to Mickeys this morning to get it skimmed, and ordered in a set of rings and shells. Need to get on the phone this afternoon to order bushes and springs. Mickeys is up together car build wise, but took a hard driver side front knock at Lydden that we need to sort. Also building an engine as last seasons engine was completely gutless.
Black car on the right, ended up not too bad from the initial incident, but somebody came steaming up from towards the back of the grid and twatted him causing the damage.

That is quite a bit of damage, a BFH to sort it I presume.
No online list as far as I am aware.
Winx, you can book it online if you don't need to speak to the organisers. They are pretty efficient and email out directions etc a week before the event.
1. Jon_bmw: 205 gti
2. Turkey: e30 with m30b35?
3. Brian : PBMW 318
4. Mickey: PBMW 318
5. ?

looks neater in the pictures than the flesh though!
List to finish it is still long, although I am using it as a commuter to find any niggles with it at the moment, snow has been intersting!

Sounds like it will be a weapon, but no matter how much you do there's always going to be something else you wanna change... from my experiance with it anyway! Snow has been very interesting, idling in 2nd just spinning the wheels, took me 20mins to go 50yards yesterday
