-Took rotten bits off
-Welded a couple of patches (lots more to go)
-New dizzy cap and rotor arm
-plugs
-Threw away the knackered brakes
-Ripped out the sunroof and welded a patch in
Thats about it

If anyone knows where I can get a nearside wing, some cheap front brakes, some dirt cheap suspension, rear trailing arms with discs for a conversion and probably some new wheels.....cheap I would be very grateful.

I've got some front calipers with braided lines if you want them. Worked fine when I used them just moved on to 4 pots.

Making very slow progress with the actual car at the moment as its away having the cage fit.

Image
Image

Image
Image

Stripping the inside. Removed the rear bulkhead becasue steel is just far too heavy :D so will put in a aluminium firewall eventually.

Image
Image

Got most of the wiring out now. Heater matrix is all gone. But they are early pictures.

Thats pretty much it for the car at the moment. Plan is when i get it back is to strip it down to the shell, paint it a nice white, and build it up from there.

Whilst the cars been away i have being sorting out the engine. Its a mazda 13b n/a from a 89 rx7.

Image
Image

Stripped the engine/cleaned everything up. Going to get the side housings skimmed at work, i'll look into getting the rotors lightened and balanced. Then its a case of new PP housing, seals etc. before rebuilding it. Also going to run a carb for cheapness and simplicity.

Image
Image

So thats where i am at the moment. Thought i would be kept busy all the time, but seem to be spending most of the time waiting for parts to arrive.

I bought mine from Miller on special. It's their own design: billet "aluminum" housing, CNC machined, very tasty. Manufactured specifically for the M20 the MAF comes with a revamped chip. Very soon Miller are going to be offering WAR chip, which means you can simply plug your laptop in and go have a chat with your chip.

Will do!

Been buggered over in the shipment so we're waiting on that to be put right. Shouldn't be too long now.

Interestingly, their new MAFs are up on their site. They are MUCH cheaper. Might be worth a look for any interested parties. Mine will be one of the last billet ones sent I imagine.

Hi,
Wow!!!! that's just awesome!! cool cool cool

Sounds like a really close ratio box??
What are the ratios?
This gearbox is not a dogleg box. It´s a sport gearbox from E21 323i and very early 323i E30.
Ratio:
1. 3,76
2. 2,33
3. 1,61
4. 1,23
5. 1,00

Ratio 325 E30 gearbox:
1. 3,83
2. 2,20
3. 1,40
4. 1,00
5. 0,81

For Hockenheim i use 3,46 LSD
Love those brakes, Easy enough to fit?
Yes this brakes are easy to install. (i hope i understand your question. My english is not so good.) A company here in germany is producing this discs for me. They are comming with 4x100 bolt circle and centerhole for E30 suspension. Including original Fittinghole for M6 cylinder screw. Take a look at this pic and you know what i mean.
Image

Rear is like the same. Calipers are mounted with special alloy adapters. The whole brake kit is comming with:
4 calipers from Porsche
4 discs (300x25mm front and 294x19mm rear)
4 alloy adapters
1 set of steel brake hoses

Setprice is 2200 Euro

Hey Christoph - I'm very interested in your Carbs...

What did you have to do to the carbs to make them suitable for the M20?? (do you have a spec?)

Where did you get the manifold from??

Thanks..

Hey Christoph - I'm very interested in your Carbs... cool cool

What did you have to do to the carbs to make them suitable for the M20?? (do you have a spec?)

Hi,

the manifold is made of a stock injection manifold. Cut off and welded with alloy adapters for the carbs. You can see it on the pic. this is a very difficult work. I cannot do this on my own because i have not the machine´s. CNC... I think you have to pay 300-400 Euro for this manifold.

The other things you have to do are:

you need a ignition from an early 320 with distributer in engine-block

the distributer cab must be cutt because it is to high. There is not enough place between the carbs. The wirecabels have to go in from the side, not from the top

you cannot use the thing behind the brake mastercylinder. So mastercylinder must be mounted direct on firewall. Pushrod must be cutt off, make shorter and weld together again

Well if you don´t understand my words, take a look at the pic´s.
