38psi, 30-32psi hot is OK for a slick tyre but on R888's (at least if you're pushing REAL hard) will make them overheat and flex. Don't take my word for just browse the internet for Toyo's recomendations.
The rule of thumb is inner edge and center at Xºc and outer edge X+10ºc.
Toyo R888 tyre wear problem - advice needed

thanks for the free advertFrancisco wrote:I'm running Uwe's camber plates and I definately recommend them. Easily reversible, the rubber keeps the car civilized when running over potholes and VERY reasonbly priced.
P.S. I run 888's at an optimum 38 psi. BTW, tyre temperature should NOT be the same across the tyre there should be a 10º diference on the outer edge.
I will have more mounts soon. Parts are with the machine shop and I hope they don't let me down with the deadline given.

Will be in Bedford and have some fitted to my car. I am also working on a solid (simple) mount.
Would that no be better for race application? Will also lower the fron a little with the solid mount.
Looking forward speaking to you, have some other parts in the draw as well.

38psi on the 888s? felt like crap when i ran em that high, I payed about a bit & 34 hot was my fave, so circa mid to high 20s cold & bleed down to 30 or so after 1st session & they get to temp jubbly

What was the ambient temperature? The issue with 888's is that (unlilke the Sport Cups for isntance) they tend to go off after a few laps in hot weather (which is the case here in Portugal) so increasing the cold pressure base line and leaving it on the high 30's sorts this by reducing the flex and contact patch (i,e friction). In cold weather the tyres can evacuate the heat better and cope with lower hot pressures therefore increasing contact patch and putting them up there on their working temperature range.
This is one of the set back of the high silica contents which makes them so good at slight wet/damp conditions (actually better than sport cups that useless on the wet.
