optimum suspension gemoetry for good handling

as there are a few threads going about adjustable rear beams etc i've been thinking.

ignoring the factory settings for camber, toe and caster angles... what have people found to work well on track?

i've just bought some leda coilovers with k-max camber / caster adjustable front mounts. i have M3 offset bushes to fit too. the rear is getting rebushed and i have some offset (bmw) trailing arm bushes to fit here.

all told, i can adjust all sorts of stuff but i have no idea where to start!!!

can anyone give me any pointers?

Well, just lift the car from the other side until tires come up, then lower it little bit. This will give you a crude estimate of the bodyroll when cornering hard. Then check the tire angle on the other side where tyres are on the ground. If it seems that tyres are evenly touching the ground you have correct camber angle. Even more accurate measurement can be achieved with a infrared-termometer. The temperature of the tyres should be even between outer and inner tyre. If the temperature is much higher in the inner part of the tyre you have too much camber.

i like the IR thermometer idea we use some very small thermocouples at work and these may do the job!
i'd need to get on track to set it up though. at present, the car is in bits and has no MOT so i can't road test anything yet.

i'm really looking for a good starting point.
