Floor of a track / race car

If you had a nicely painted interior which you didnt want to scuff and make look a mess very quickly what would you do? Its for under the drivers and passenger feet
Ally or checker plate would be ok but obviously adds weight.
Gritted non slip paint - doesnt keep it clean
Non slip self adhesive flooring?
What would you use and do you have a link to where it can be obtained......

Ally plate in my race car. A square the size you need weighs about 200 grams.
The fact you are saying under the driver's and passenger's feet means you're carrying loads of surplus weight anyway. If you're bothered about 200 grams, bin the passenger seat and mounts (and the passenger).

What about like this?
harry ^^ that sounds like a good idea.
I tried putting waxoyl in my footwell thinking yeah it will be hardwearing and protect the paint - WRONG!! Hahahaha. It just smeared everywhere and wore down to the paint in the end anyway, as well as looking shit.
Why not just keep the standard floormats in? Nice bit of carpet in there and you could even tape it down to stop it sliding around.

I've gone for some of this stuff:
http://shop.pinbax.com/index.asp?select ... d&uid=7871
As the sandpaper stuff only comes in small strips
