What's the best set up for a track car?
I think the PAS rack on my 325i track car has had it, so I can replace it with either a manual rack or another PAS one.

What does everyone else use?

Cheers,
Bryn.

I run non power steering on my E30 race car & it's fine, but I'm quite a big bloke. TAS are making a batch of the E30 fast racks (awaiting my one any day now, hopefully) & that would be your best bet, we run one of these in our E36 M3 & it's very communicative albeit heavy in such a lump.

Others swear by PAS but I really don't think it's needed in such a light car as the E30 & it saves weight & there's less to go wrong

Who's doing your rack when you get it Dom? I still have mine sat waiting to be fitted into a non-power rack and might just get someone to do it for me! lol

my power steering rack has had it too - and this is my second rack in 80,000 miles! - must be the -2 degrees camber I have!

I am going for a manual 2.5 turns. GGSteel in Lincoln are doing the work this month sometime. they fit a quick rack into a manual rack then replace my power steering one for it.

I look forward to the improved feel and speed of the new rack.

Mark McLennan probably, the E30 is ready next week (can't bloody wait, i've been waiting nearly 17months to finally finish the car like it's going to be) & i'm dropping the E36 for stripping before I take it off for paint so he could swap them over then as i don't think the TAS one is going to be ready, i've heard nothing about these for ages. He's in Dorking though mate, bit of a trek but he's Very good & he does what he says he's going to & on time!

The new rack was Ԛ£195 if I remember, if the TAS one is ready in time I might sell the one on the E36 & use the new one in the E30 instead as I might put PAS back on the E36, it's hard work on the old wrists!
