DTM Style Rose Jointed Control Arms
Moderator: martauto
Evening folks. Quick question about these types of things! What are the legalities of them come MOT time? Had a look at the testers manual and don't see anything that might result in a fail provided all adjustment is adequately locked...
As a tester I can't see a reason to fail anything. A mate brings his MK2 escort for MOT everyyear. That's rose jointed throughout. I thought there might be implications not having dust covers on, but they're designed not to have them.
Assuming when the arms are modified the welding is good. You shouldn't have any issues.

Section 5 of the introduction of the testers manual "How to use this manual" on page 9 gives guidance for testers on "extensively modified vehicles", which would allow a rose jointed vehicle not to be failed on this, and many other things.
Thanks all for your responses!Brianmoooore wrote:Section 5 of the introduction of the testers manual "How to use this manual" on page 9 gives guidance for testers on "extensively modified vehicles", which would allow a rose jointed vehicle not to be failed on this, and many other things.
Brian - yeah it's this same clause that allows my pedal box/absence of a servo to get by....
