e30 lower arm rear bush for track use best option?
Moderator: martauto
whats the general opinion of what works best on front lower arm set up, I was planning on usin oem lower arms retaining 4 stud but uprating the bushes probably use the tree house racing control arm bushes?
I see people using all sorts of arrangements, but is there any real benefit to e36 or e46 arms?! Dont really want to go 5 stud but could the e30 I have has sound wheels on for road use which I'd like to keep.

In the absence of any reply, my limited experience is the powerflex eccentric bushes with the extra insert pushing the arm giving more castor, is certainly worthwhile on the oem arms. If anything they should be the first bushes to upgrade.
The story so far... http://www.cookracing.co.uk/

The tree house racing control arm bushes do not look particularly compliant (well at all), with nylon/delrin inserts. I'm sure they'd be good for a dedicated track car but not too sure for driving day to day. Do you do many road miles in the car?

Haha. Either get a set of eccentric polybushes or a set if new teeth!

Going to use powerflex, front and rear see how they fair up. The tree house racing ones do indeed look a bit stiff.

Cheers for the feed back guys, I was looking at e30 m3 bushes. Ill see how it feels on the power flex, we want to do some hill climbs, maybe tarmac rallys in it as well as it being road legal.

Seriously mate dont bother with powerflex, they are known to drop out of the front wishbone mounts. The design of the rear bushes are so they appeal to the home DIY differ, there are better and cheaper products out there.
As said previously its a trade off between road/track, for your setup I would go with the treehouse jobs, pretty much solid mounting but they give extra clearance for exhaust which will come in handy.
If you dont want solid mounts then use the eccentric M3 bushes, as found here - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/390730512709? ... 1423.l2649
Dyslexic differs?

I already have the Powerflex kit ;) To be fair we get a mssive discount on Poweflex, I hear what you are saying we are reluctant to fit certain bushes on the vag cars due to quality issues.
Ill get them installed and see how it fairs up, seen as we have them. Can change / evolve as we go along. The eccentric bushes in that link look good but might wait and see what the exhaust clearance is like as it may be better to go for the tree house type affairs depending on clearance!
We have loads of stuff lined up now so its strip down time soon.
