Ive decided im getting afew details finished on me e30 ready for afew track days this next year. Ive decided on 205 50 15 as a size, now ive run toyo r888 (usually buy part worns) but just wondered if anyone recomends any other tyres, whats tried and tested? We all know r888 are very pricey and ive found toyo r1r and also yoko ad08 and also those new nankangs :$ at decent prices so im tempted to give them a wirl. Any input or recomendations would be appreciated.

I wouldn't other with T1R how they ever got a name as a 'track tyre' I will lever know. The tread is too narrow on them and as a result they heat up like mad. I pretty much destroyed a set in a day. Cheap mind only £29 each when I got them brand new!
There is a world beyond R888. Just take a look down the MSA lists and they'll give you an idea. Dunlop, Avon, Yoko ,Kumho there is a lot of choice. If it's a more 'road based tyre' the guys doing the Castle Combe Saloons championship who have to run road tyres all run on the AD08 and seem to love them.

I have used the R1R previously and they are a great tyre, but as I found they had a similar wear rate to 888's (and are not quite as 'sticky') I would go for the 888's instead.
I've ran AD08's on previous cars and been very impressed. They seem to take the heat better than other road biased tyres and give good grip wet and dry.
