Hi chaps,

Been reading 'Track and Race Car' magazine, and noticed this racing cup.

There are five different classes, which is quite interesting, and the regulations mean a broad range of cars can enter.

Take a look:

Been thinking about entering the Civic!

It's having a roll cage fitted as we speak, and has been already stripped out, with bucket seat, harnesses and so on.

I guess I'd be in class D. Which is up to 1600cc for modified saloons (Civic?) turbo'd non-road cars aren't allowed, road-going up 2000cc or turbo'd up to 1600cc.

I would have thought the Civic would sit in pretty good stead here. Being a 150bhp 1600cc makes it pretty good.

Anyway, what are peoples thoughts? :D

It's a popular and well subscribed championship. The front running cars are *VERY* quick so you need to expect to be lapped once or twice per race which has an effect on the value for money you get from your entry fees.

Your best bet for finding out how competitive your Civic would be is on this forum:

That's where the TRC guys hang out.

FWIW, I entered my Milltek 318i in a TRC race this year at Croix in France. Had to enter in Class C because we run on List 1B tyres (road tyres only for class D I think).

Thanks for the advice Liam!

How did you fare in the 318i?

I wanted to do (and hopefully will in the future) a Miltek or Kuhmo car, but that's after I return from travelling and get a 'proper' job! For now, as the Civic is getting caged and so on, it seems like a good opportunity not to take.

I wouldn't mind being lapped, so long as there a couple of cars which I could compete reasonably closly with!

Cheers, and thanks for the link!

Dave.

Hey mate,

My cage is being built by Fabricage, and due to the rarity of the Civic in my shape it is having to be a bespoke cage. No-one mass produces cages for Civic EE9s.

However, for yourself, you will be able to get one off the shelf and have it fitted for probably 2/3 of the cost of mine.

You could get it fitted by the same place though.

Have a look in the Demon Theives catalogue or ask someone else on here who made/built/fitted their cage to get an idea of cost and so on!

Wahey!
