That looks good fun! You know a bit about the track that much is obvious
Shame about the yellow flag though that would be scary flat out through there!

I couldn't, the balance just isnt there for me, at minimum it would be an S54 now. The options are, S54, S14 2.7l, S14 2.3 Turbo or SRDET. The SR being the cheapest option, in fact with the sale of the S14 parts I would have quite a few pennies left in my pocket. But my heart is in the S14, so I am still inclined to go 2.7l.

Ah its not too bad, compared to some barges I've pushed around the track the S50 feels like a radar guided feather. Trail brake in and get on the power to balance the rotation as the front end bites in, get it right and understeer isn't an issue, works better on medium speed/length corners though, too slow and you've just got to be a bit too rough to keep it feeling as smooth as I like to and long sweepers you struggle to maintain it and it starts to either over or understeer on the way out. Whilst it gets the job done it still feels a little bit of a failed attempt compared to when you get the 50-90 mph bends just right
My MR2 was the best for repeatability though, mid engine balance was unbelievable, it was so pointable it was unreal compared to the E30.
No where near as cool though

Ive never driven an S50 E30 on the track, but I have been in a fair few as a passenger, the difference between the two engines and their effect on handling is quite stark! Its not for me sadly

Each to their own at the end of the day, I've never driven a 4 pot E30 round the track (or ever for that matter!) so I may have an epiphany one day and realise the error of my ways

Thanks
Nice vid. Just wish I hadn't had the problems with the trailing arm. I must have been out at a similar time as I'm pretty sure I came across that Porker up Keselschen too.Andyboy wrote:Nice - sounds good and looks quick. 8.30 - 9 secs?Demlotcrew wrote:Ok one is online! - The Orange E30 at the beginning is the Owner of Northloop. Nice video, good quality sound too- cant beat a bit of induction hammer, regardless of power output! Tidy lap too, id imagine those aero aids are actually quite noticeable on some parts? That foxhole section (after you overtook the red Civic) holds great memories- I still remember going through the decompression at the bottom in my 205, shift lights lit up like a christmas tree, hanging off the rev limiter in 5th gear!
E30 2.5l M20 race car. Just coming out of a 4 year hibernation/restoration.
Great vid and I think my favourite car on the Zone

It might only be an M40, but my touring is so much more chuckable than the Sport ever was with the S50 fitted.
It was good as standard, but I've now fitted the M3 suspension and an LSD and its brilliant fun in the corners, just needs more than an M40 can give obviously.
I'm starting to search down the back of the sofa and at the end of rainbows.... I've seen the cost of S14 stuff
As wrong as it is, there won't be a 6 pot going back in my 2drbillgatese30 wrote:Each to their own at the end of the day, I've never driven a 4 pot E30 round the track (or ever for that matter!) so I may have an epiphany one day and realise the error of my ways

Some good pictures there Andrew,
I was hoping to take the moordoor round the ring before the end of the year, probably won't happen until next year given the changable weather now

Boot spoiler worked beautifully! No lifting at the leading corners (like others I have seen) and no issues with downforce pushing on the base spoiler and the captive nuts, just need to get it painted up now.
Thanks again Martin, I have already had a few enquiries from E30 owners.

Thanks Ferg
Car was very stable in the high speed corners where even heavier porsches were twitching. (from what i observed in the passenger seat)Demlotcrew wrote:Boot spoiler worked beautifully! Thanks dude, I know you're right, I need to drive it more, but with my unrealistic ambitions with the car and lack of funds getting in the way, I spend more time tinkering with it instead. I should just enjoy it for what it is now and wait till I out talent the power and concentrate on getting the Cecotto back on the road.
seat time is key! Stop tinkering lolDemlotcrew wrote:Thanks dude, I know you're right, I need to drive it more, but with my unrealistic ambitions with the car and lack of funds getting in the way, I spend more time tinkering with it instead.
