Yeh just been speaking to my bro (kevo) and he has one in stock to try which is nice. been on the gear calculator and it will be pulling a smidge over 100 mph at 6500 max rpm. Rallying all about stop go etc so not too bothered about high top speeds. I have had about 115 mph on events before but not often (6000 in 5th with overdrive box).
Gearlinkage tweek and possible prop change depending on what I've got.

I am under the impression that the difference between the e30 and e36 "is" box is only a different ratio. Is this correct ?

currently putting a box from an E36 318ti compact on to my m42. output flange on the e36 box has 12mm holes and the e30 box has 10mm, the two are not interchangeable due to different splines on the output shaft.
the e36 box is also slightly shorter.

e36 ratios are:
1 2 3 4 5
4.23 2.52 1.66 1.22 1.00

Right click on the link and select "save target as". It's chapter 6 of the book "Going Faster" as a PDF file, roughly 6Mbyte in size. Well worth a look.kipsy wrote:Can't open the link sorry. Just going to stick a 2nd hand boxGeoffBob wrote:Off topic I know, but this may be of interest to you Kipsy.

My brother has a 318is e30 with a 318is e36 box fitted. I'll have to quiz him later!alan1272 wrote:currently putting a box from an E36 318ti compact on to my m42. output flange on the e36 box has 12mm holes and the e30 box has 10mm, the two are not interchangeable due to different splines on the output shaft.
