Nasty. What happened. It looks like there's a very slight left hander. I can see she's in forth before the backend comes out but I can't see exactly why?
Doesn't even look that fast but in car footage can be deceptive. What sort of speed? 80/90?

Don't know the detail apart from ir was bucketing it down and a pal of mine who went aquaplained in the same spot but it didn't spin him. He would be in 4th so 80mph....

nasty. aquaplaning scares me!!! Coming back from touring daddy's place last week there was so much standing water was shitting me up cos I couldn't even see it coming.
Funny how the wider tyres seem to make it worse, at lesat the drag effect anyway. My corsa never used to phase me anywhere near as much on it's 155s.
Perhaps the turbo spooled up as he aquaplaned... damn turbos

I bet he wished he had more turbo lag as he hit that puddle...
I have put Goodyear F1's for my wet tyres on my E30 325i (See my WWW at the bottom of the page) , at Ԛ£50 each and non low profiles they should do the trick in any standing water.
I aquaplaned once in a 406 2.0ltr turbo and sh1t myself, it was like I had been picked up from the fast lane and plonked down in the slow lane, pulled into the next service station and bought a new pair of undercrackers

Well I hope all these turbo boys are paying attention! There's a nice initial d episode that shows the same thing, about turbos spooling up when they're not wanted. I reckon all track days should show initial d as required veiwing..

Hi that was me
I got told the link was also posted here.
I had done around 180 miles on the track that day, so about 80 laps, it was wet for all of them but on that lap it just snatched left too quick for me to do much.
I had F1's on the front, in my size they are ~ Ԛ£70 from www.mytyres.co.uk
On the back I had bridgestone S02's another quality tyre although they had decent tread on at the start of the day they were wearing but still had ~2mm over the wear markers.
turbo lag wouldnt matter much, you can clearly see from the footage I was coasting through the standing water, the T28 is only a small turbo anyway and suffers little lag (full boost of 15psi by 2900rpm).
Its just one of those things, if you want to trackday occasionally it will go wrong.
Thankfully the nissan 200SX owners club is great, and I have been given FOC or cheap all the parts needed for the repair. Nissan prices it would have been around Ԛ£7K I reckon I'll have it back on the road on the 20th of the month (its being jigged and panelled this weekend) total cost should be a good chunk under Ԛ£1000.

Thanks for the detail, it really did seem to snap with some sevear speed. As for being supported by the guys in your club that what's it all about, when the sh*t hits the fan it's then you realise that you have so many pals that sometimes you've never met
I did hear it was seriously chucking it down and the Caterham my pal was in was spinning the wheels in the first 3 gears

Ah the man himself. I hear what you're saying about the track days ad something bad happening if you do them often enough.

what have you done modification wise to the car? Looks like the 200sx makes quite a nice track weapon. What are they like in terms of steering ratio, turns lock to lock?

that's a fairly extensive list but it looks quite well planned and not like a bunch of thoughtless addons.
I like that plan of the dual fuel conversion. I can only afford to run one car and that may be my wayout of trying to balance high power with affordability... A long way off for my own project but food for thought nonethe less.

Camera is a Sony Handycam DCRHC14E, basically a little DV Cam, nothing new or fancy. I use a sucker type mount on the front or rear screen or sometimes a headrest mount.
All the equipment is borrowed so I dont know much about it.

Would have been quicker but had to wait for it to be jigged before re-panelling.
