hi - considering a visit to rockingham next month. just wanted other people's opinions.
1) is the banked track difficult / scary
2) is the lap length too long to learn the lines effectively in one day
3) is it hard on brakes - looks like it could be
4) whats your overall impression
i am driving a BMW e30 ex race car.
as rockingham days dont come up too often i thought it would be a good opportunity
cheers guys
Jonathan

I think its a easy track, mostly right hand bends, and when i was there last only the inner track is used.

Banked section is great fun but go easy if it's wet... the E30 will break away in a 4 wheel drift outwards towards the wall. Stay high against the wall on the banked corner and turn where I recall there is a slight vertical line on the wall...feels very late when you do it. Drop low but don't cross the line then drift wide again on the straight ready for the chicane.
After dropping off the banked section into the infield again beware of planting the throttle in the left hander down towards the hairpin. Again this is only a problem if wet, in the dry you can throw it through the chicane and it's just a mater of how big your balls are!
I found it was pretty hard on brakes and tyres but depends on the weather again.
You don't mention which circuit you will be running but if it is the International Short 2.443mile circuit, class C cars which I think are comparable to yours were doing 2:01 laps, not that you're supposed to be timing of course!

Just to echo previous comments, the rocks banking needs utmost respect in the wet. One of the problems with it is that the water does tend to collect, especially if they're using the chicane bit at turn 1. I had a 'sketchleys' moment this year in qualifying when I hit a puddle 360'd the car to end up about a foot from the wall.
Rockingham isn't just the banking either, the infields quite fun actually

Given that it's an anti-clockwise circuit you ought to find more left handers!Demlotcrew wrote:I think its a easy track, mostly right hand bends, and when i was there last only the inner track is used.

Also echo what Dave says, I actually ended up 1 foot *in* the barrier on the exit of the chicane.

Any info on this?
Links?
I always thought it was anti-clockwise, it definately was for the Seat Cupra Cup back in 2003. Everything I've seen on TV since then has been.
You up for this one Andy?!?!
