I run EBC Yellows in my track car and they are great in terms of performance and value for money..

However, I see that a lot of the PBMW guys use Pagid RS29 - are they really worth the extra cash??

Your opinions/feedback would be most welcome..

PM caneswell on here - mate of mine who's used them on his M3 with excellent results. They're a little squeally when they're cold, but stopping power is great and they've lasted several trips to the 'ring. He can give you more details - but i've been impressed enough by them to know that we'll be putting them on our touring track car when the time comes.

We fitted some to our pbmwc race car since a lot of the pbmwc guys use them like you say.

We have done about 6-7 full trackdays / test days and about 8 hours racing track time plus driving to and from all the tracks from London.

They still have about 70-80% of the pad thickness left.

Neil seems to be able to brake quite late without any issues so because of all the above we'd recommend them - we run brembo vented disks.

They are designed for endurance racing so they last longer, saves having to keep changing them like you would with cheaper pads.

I have tried EBC, Pagid, Ferodo, Hawk and Porterfield, and they all had good and bad features.

But by far, THE BEST pad I have ever run in my E30 was Performance Friction. You would not believe how good the bite, feel, control and wear rate are compared to other pads. And the best part for me is that they were cheaper than EBC Yellows, and offered much longer life - I got 5 race meetings plus some extra practice/shakedowns out of a set on standard E30 ATE calipers (front). Still going on the back!

I run their PFC06 compound, which is a variant of their 'More Championships Than Any Other' PFC01 compound with a bit more endurance. The PFC pads are a favourite of many of the US SpecE30 racers, both in 01 and 06 compounds.

We came from the EBC yellows to the Pagid RS29.

The EBC yellows lasted 2 trackdays :( They were appaling.

The Pagids have now completed 4 trackdays with no issues.

Only "downside" I can see with RS29 is the long bedding in time. DON'T skip it though.

Been selling Pagid for a few years now, im not heavy on brakes and recently tried RS29'S on my e36 but could not generate enough heat in them so struggled with pedal feel, swapped to RS5'S and got my pedal feel back and a good temp and colour on the pad face, RS29's are a great pad and i sell lots of them but dont rule out some of the other great pad compounds pagid do, check disc temps before ordering is my tip !

neil here, the pagid rs29s are very very good, i can see them lasting a 2nd season of racing, at oulton i lent my spare set to the pbmw champion, forced to start from the pitlane he had to bed them in on the 1st few corners of the race and went on to set his fastest lap of the day on them, they are very expensive but they work very well and last a long time, cheers

I asked a similar question here http://www.zonemotorsport.co.uk/phpbb3/ ... f=3&t=1258 with varying thoughts on RS29's and a few other options too. Might be worth a read.
