As above,

I have a spare set which I bought by mistake, just been wondering if I could use them instead of selling them on??

I noticed that Toyo do R888's in 14" but wondered how this would affect the hamdling?

Any comments gratefully received.

i had the same decision to make. I bought some 15's and they look right. I can't comment on the handling of 14's with 888's but 15's are great with 888's and seem to be what everyone uses. there is usually a reason why most people do something..

I run T1Rs on 14s and plan to go switch to R888s, still on the 14s. I just bought some 16 inch rims for the road. My rationale is that on the 14s the gearing is shorter (with suitably low profile rubber) and the car sits lower, both factors I prefer for the track. I appreciate that the consensus is to use 15s, but then I do run a touring on track!

bottle top alloys are mega light! as said with some 50 profile rubber it will be decked and accelerate quicker!

I tried 185/60 on 14s for a change as a way of lowering the gearing. Worked fine on the road; there wasn't a big difference in the gearing, but I could feel it on my 318iS.

A friend tells me 14" BBS are popular with early Polo owners - could be worth trying to punt them on eBay or OC forums?

Thanks for your comments guys.

May well try punting them on ebay as you say, unless somebody that uses them on track advises me not to.

Nothing wrong with 14" wheels/tyres....

They will be just as good as the same width/profile as 15s or 17s, etc, but will effectively lower the gearing...

I use 16" (245/45/16) on the M3 for Road and 15" with 205/50/15 for the track...

I have a set of 14"s that were original on the car (it started life as a 316) and was going to sell them until I discovered drift days! I now have 3 sets of wheels, 1 set of 15" for the road, another set of 15" for the track and I now use the 14" for drift, you can get 4 tyres for about £40! :D
