I’m in need of a Zf 4hp 22 auto gearbox non switchable and was told the e30’s may have had the same ?, any help with this will be much appreciated.

Hi there, sorry to say that the gearbox is no longer available, and that particular gearbox was only fitted to an E28 520i.

Try looking for one second hand. There's a few traders on here that's worth asking on the for sale section

Alternatively there are a few specialists around that will recondition it for you.

Personally I would go with a refurb, because you will probably get some fitting issues to overcome on an E30 gearbox and potential differences in ratios, and you don't know if the box will be any good anyway. plus with a refurb you will have a warranty if it isn't right.

I pondered on getting a used GB but was worried that it could also fail so had mine rebuilt/refurbed
