It's item 3 in this picture, but is grayed out so can assume it's NLA everywhere.

That part number says it fits an old 5,6,7 series.

£72.26 inc VAT and there is plenty of stock in the main warehouse in Germany.

Thanks Jon, but I'm gonna trust your BMW parts catalogue over my random BMW forum Googling!

I really can't understand why so many struggle to find these brackets (surely only worth 20 quid tops, even new) in breakers.

They were not fitted as standard, it was an accessory fitted at the dealer and not the most popular tbh
