Autopia Service Centres - the first vehicle DIY/Self Service Workshop in the North-West, is pleased to be supporting the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs' 'Drive-it Day' this year.
On 25th April 2010 many Classic Car Clubs and individual Classic Owners across the UK will be showing support for the UK's historic vehicle population by dusting off their classic vehicles and getting them on the road to demonstrate the strength of the movement, showcasing our classic car hobby to other enthusiast owners and to people who don't currently own a classic.
Autopia Service Centres would like to invite classic car owners to use our workshop as a stopping-off point and we will be offering free BBQ food, hot and cold drinks across the whole day for visiting drivers and passengers of classic cars that are participating in the initiative either individually or as part of a club run.
If you're planning your route and would like to stop-off at Autopia for some refreshments, our address is Unit 29, Darwen Enterprise Centre, Railway Rd, Darwen. BB3 3EH - 5 minutes from Junction 4 of the M65 in Lancashire, please find us on Google Maps or through our location page at http://www.autopiaservicecentres.co.uk/ ... &Itemid=61
The BBQ will run from 10am to 4pm and we will be serving; bacon rolls, sausage barmcakes, beef burgers, baked potatoes, tea, coffee and soft drinks.
Anyone booking a workshop slot to take advantage of ramps from £10 per hour will of course be welcome to enjoy the hospitality alongside the 'Drive-it Day' visitors.
We need to confirm how many people to cater for so if you would like to call in at Autopia along your trip please call us on 01254 433397 or email us through our website with details of visiting cars, driver, number of passenger and approximate time of arrival? Our contact page can be found at; http://www.autopiaservicecentres.co.uk/ ... &Itemid=62
We anticipate a significant take up on this offer and are budgeting for a maximum of 250 visitors across the day so please dont hesitate in registering your place?

you know you could link up with traders selling parts etc., they sell their parts, you facilitate the premises and labour while we all have a proper jolly and improve our cars at the same time. If its just a workshop thing then I suppose this will work better in a crowded city like London, but in Lancashire......soooo much space
Thanks for your comments, always great to get some feedback.
Re: Mechanics, my idea behind Autopia Club Days is that more experienced members can help those less experienced, with problems, difficulties, etc. If I employ mechanics, their costs would put the price up which would make the club day product less attractive.
I'm very happy to tie up with traders selling parts, both for E30 and other marques, perhaps even arranging an E30 autojumble one weekend - will post something on the forum.
The main issue for me is considering how well subscribed the forum is, the lack of interest from E30 zoners is really surprising, recent offers to host a run-out and extending a free BBQ to zoners on 25th April but nobody on the E30zone has taken up either of the offers, the most surprising is that both offers are/were free?
The offer to host a run-out still stands and we're considering hosting another BBQ later in the summer because the last one was well attended, particularly by other German marques including Audi and Porsche, pictures are available on the gallery pages of our website.
best regards,

I need to make this one work before looking elsewhere, but we're not so far from Halifax, worth a trip if you need to get your car up in the air.

what a great idea.and the e30 auto jumble would be good i would be there
Brilliant idea. I've wanted someone to do something like this for ages!! I'm in central Manc with an E21 (no garage) and any time I want something done on ramps it has to go into the mechanics, even though I'm more than capable of doing it myself!
I will definitely be using your services in the near future.
Couldn't see if you mentioned it, but do you provide any tools? Not a major thing for me as I have my own but thought others might be interested.

Thanks for the encouragement,
Tools are available at nominal rates, please see; http://www.autopiaservicecentres.co.uk/ ... 6&subid=22
But if you want to use the workshop, you should consider doing so sooner rather than later as I am seriously considering it's future, considering the lack of interest from the motoring community - surprising really?

Ahh shoulda checked the site first, my bad. Got a couple of handbrake cables to fit so I'll be booking in soon.
Shame about the lack of interest, wish I'd known much sooner. Have crossposted to a couple of other forums I frequent. Best of luck matey!
